The Donald poses a threat to one version of America.
The territory once known as “the United States of America” was supposed to have been “fundamentally transformed”, i.e., no longer the “America” of song and story.
Only, there is still a huge institutional memory and a good many people with living recollections, of the America that used to be, and they have gotten a promise that America can be restored to its former glory.
For some of us, this is a vision that tends to loom VERY large, and just that thought that recovery is possible, is enough to fuel an amazing spurt of enthusiasm,
Time to trade back from the alternate universe that we have fallen into. I want to go home again.
