By definition, anyone getting 51% of the vote cannot, by definition, be extreme. Writers who abuse terms like “far right” should be called on it whenever that play that game.

Exactly. Far-right is on a spectrum of political opinions of the electorate in question. When a politician gets 51% of the vote, he is the physical incarnation of the exact center of the political bell curve of that electorate.

What these writers are really saying is “far-right in terms of the cocktail parties I attend”.
