To that point, I found this Mitt Romney rally from June 12, 2012 in Dubuque, Iowa. I use the term "rally" loosely. It was maybe 100-200 people on a riverboat and half of them appeared to be journalists covering the event.

The video I linked to is only a half hour but it's painful to watch in its entirety. Mitt himself only speaks for 10-15 minutes and he's totally flat and lifeless. Before he is introduced, he's sort of hanging in the backstage area nervously wringing his hands and probably hoping to just get this over with already.

By contrast, Trump absolutely electrifies any room he enters and he truly connects with the audience, usually for 45-75 minutes and still leaves the crowd wishing it was longer.

Totally different election this time around.

Interesting - kind of proves the point that the GOPe sent McStain and Mittens up there to present the chin to Obama. Trump isn't being sent in there by the GOPe, reach around the aisle crowd to lose to "she who's turn it is"

The old men who run the Republican party decided that beating Obama would result in more damage to their little club than would letting him win, regardless of the amount of damage he does to the country.

That’s the only possible conclusion, at least that I can see.

The members of the GOP have figured out how to get personally rich as the opposition party. Being out front, in the leadership position, actually represents a pay cut, and an increased amount of work and stress for them. It’s not worth it! It’s not worth winning, by their way of thinking!

More stupid, low-energy politicians.

And don’t get me wrong. I’m not a big Trump rah-rah. I think he says a lot of good things, but talk is cheap.

I expect to be bitterly disappointed by him when he is President.

Although I probably won’t have time to be disappointed in him because all hell is probably going to break loose in geopolitics right after he takes office. I won’t be surprised if a nuclear war breaks out somewhere during his first year. I think Obama has set this up to happen.
