The Venezuelans are just getting what they voted for. This expected outcome was delayed for about 10 years or so.
Sometime the only way for people to learn is via the school of hard knocks.
Yet, I have seen MSM analysts state that a poor economy with high unemployment causes people to favor socialism, and that is why Bern has so much support.
It makes no sense.
Socialist policies lead to job loss and poor economy. Why that should cause more people to turn to socialism as an answer is mystifying.
The cult of personality built around Chavez will be increasing hard to sustain among the peasants as their stomachs become emptier and emptier.
Stupid people vote for freebies stupidly...and die. Couldn’t care less. I take them as just another example as to what we already know about socialism and are trying to stop that crap from happening here.
A privately owned business is accountable to its customers and must produce a quality product better than it's competitors to stay in business. that's called capitalism and that's why it works :accountability and competition.
Socialism has neither because government bureaucrats get government grants no matter if they produce any results or not and usually they don't as in the IRS totally being unaccountable for oppressing conservatives
Maybe Sean Penn and Joe Kennedy can send them a few scraps.

Better still, check out what Bernie's Fat-Assed Wife did to Burlington College while she was it's president. With 70 to 100 left-wing students and a $3 million budget, she bought 33 acres on Lake Champlain for $10 million to “build a new campus.” The college went out of business just now, faced with an insurmountable debt and loss of accreditation. But Bernie’ fat-assed wife got a $200k severance package when she left in 2011! The “Free $hit Crowd” needs to see how The Bern would end if given the chance to run the country!

No it isn’t! We have nearly half of our population that seeks to be “cared for.” Admittedly, some are there out of desperation, not being able to find gainful emplioyment, but the majority are simply layabouts who think the country should care for them from womb to tomb.
I’m guessing anyone with the means to leave Venezuela have done so already. The rest are stuck.

based on a NYT sob story from a couple of days ago in which The Slimes essentially blamed Venzuela’s woes on bad luck, namely power shortages due to empty hydro dams because of drought, low world oil prices, and “feuding” between the legislature and El Presidente, you know, is if they were simply the Democrats and Republicans.
I DID enjoy this quote from El Presidente tossed without comment into the middle of their “oh this is horrible” article:

Truly a sad situation. Not every Venezuelan deserves to suffer the tyranny of a corrupt govt and its facilitators.
Equality = equal misery for all.
