SENATE REPUBLICANS BLOCK LEE AMENDMENT, PRESERVE AFFH (Obama's Plan to Ghettoize Your Neighborhood)

The Lee Amendment to defund President Obama’s Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) regulation failed in the Senate yesterday because not enough Republicans backed it. The Amendment was tabled by a vote of 60-37.

Jeremy Carl aptly describes this vote as a defeat for conservatism, community control, and common sense. It is a victory, as Carl says, for turning the federal government into a National Zoning board, forcing high density housing on unwilling cities and towns, and letting bureaucrats decide the racial, ethnic and income balance of local communities.

Votes like this show there really are progressives in both parties. And they fight like heck to advance the progressive agenda.

I have no doubt we will get another Jumpin Jim Jeffords after Trump beats Hillary. I’d put money on Ayotte & Collins switching parties rather than fight for the Trump agenda.

Sessions is pretty good overall, although I have some serious differences with him in the area of government violence. If he could give up support for war, torture, and prohibition I’d be fully on board with him.

It’s telling that you didn’t even deny that you now think in “binary” terms (Trump = good / Not Trump = bad) You are no better than the black voters who don’t understand the issues or the policies or the principals but just understand that Democrat = good / Republican = bad. Like them, you will be used. You will become the useful idiot.

Trump is not a deity. He is just a VERY flawed man who currently appears to be the best shot at defeating socialism. That is all.

It’s quite telling you ignore Lee’s outrageous Anti-Trump behavior to slavishly defend him.

Speaking of flawed men: where is Ted Cruz? Apparently he didn’t think this battle was worth fighting and is taking a powder in Mexico.

Cruz is on vacation in Mexico and not fighting this battle. Apparently, he’s not worried about gang bangers living next door to him.

Those things are inevitable in the real world...

People can earn respect of others without intimidation or fear...

Countries cannot.....That’s just the way things are...always have been and will remain so...

Anyone who is still a Republican deserves this. They have probably been bought out by underground bunkers for themselves and their families. They can’t all be pedophiles. It has to be something else.

Mike Lee may well be the single best Senator we have. Possible tie with Rand Paul. I would strongly urge you to reconsider withholding your support.

Our “single best Senator” does not gratuitously attack the presumptive nominee as Lee did last week. Rand is fully on board with Trump, btw. Sadly, Lee is happy to carry loser Romney’s water and attack Trump from his right flank. How sad is that?

There’s more work to do before they completely destroy the middle class, then there will be nobody to hold government accountable.

It’s also pretty obvious that his responsibilities he was elected for in the Senate are secondary to him...

One week back and he’s gone again....

I can’t discount all of Lee’s good work for one bad judgment call. He has a long record of being a rock-solid Constitution defender.

War and torture create fear but destroy respect.

In the post WW2 era the US was most respected with Reagan in office, and the sum total of his warmaking was a takeover of a small Caribbean island and a retaliatory strike against Qadafi for the Lockerbie attack.

The fear that he would do what he said was what earned him respect...Do you think the world respects Obama??? They definitely don’t fear him....

Teddy’s saying, “Speak softly, but carry a big stick!” says a lot....

Do you think the Iranians released those hostages right after Reagan was sworn in because they respected him or do you think it was because they feared what he was going to do if they hadn’t?????

The world doesn’t respect us anymore because we’ve gone from “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” to “might makes right”.

Please explain where we’ve used “might” in the last 7 years.....

False dichotomy. Those were not the only potential reasons for releasing the hostages.

Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, and Yemen, for starters.

If you hadn’t noticed we’ve been at war for the past 15 years without pause.

If that’s not use of might, what is? Only way to escalate violence more than the US government has already done is to take things nuclear.
