Google has patented a glue-covered car hood that catches pedestrians hit by cars and holds them in place.

When a pedestrian is struck by a moving vehicle it isn’t just the impact that does harm.

Victims run the risk of getting bounced off of the hood and into other dangerous objects and perilous situations. As a means of preventing the latter scenario, Google has patented a glue-covered car hood that catches the unfortunate individual and holds them in place.

What, is it some sort of selective adhesive that only sticks to pedestrians? Give it a week in the real world, and it’ll be completely covered with bugs, leaves and assorted debris.

They’re right. Go to youtube and search crash pedestrian. You will see a LOT of people get killed in spectacular ways. And it IS about what happens after the initial impact.

By the time the car actually hits a pedestrian, the glue covered hood will be totally ineffective due to it being completely covered in dead bugs.

...TJ has been riding hoods since before you were a campfire girl.

Shatner on SNL as TJ Hooker.

Nice Vega, too.

So a better question is: Who did they steal the idea from?

I seem to remember a very old cartoon that used glue on rolling things as a trap. Tom & Jerry? So this idea is in the public domain and is thus unpatentable.

Pretty funny. But even if taken seriously, the glue would stick to the clothing, the concept of momentum would keep the body moving on.

The victim would then not only be hit by a car but stripped naked as well.

Can you say humiliation and road rash?

LOL, no...just a photo I found online. But, I’ve always wanted one of those big old tank-type convertibles just to cruise around in on nice days. Lack of money precluded that possibility.
