I went to Baylor and I didn’t notice religion being “touted” as a major part of life. The only thing I noticed different from any other school I had attended is I had to take one course on religion. I took the New Testament and it wasn’t really religious. It was taught from the historical aspect.

Personally, I hold the players responsible UNLESS it’s proven the coaches knew about the “thugs” and recruited them anyway. (Lots of coaches do it.) But I’d like to see what would be said about Baylor refusing to recruit a black player because he’s known to be a thug. Especially with Ken Star as the head honcho. All the usual suspects want to bring down Baylor.

And if a player is charged with assault and nothing is done. Then I have to wonder what would be said about any coach to kicks a player off of scholarship for being accused and not yet tried and convicted. They all walk a thin line.

Finally, as for the Baylor player who transferred from Boise State but never played, the Boise State coach lied, in my opinion, when he says he told the Baylor coach about the player’s problems. The Boise State coach wanted the thug to transfer so he could keep a scholarship.

I went on a campus tour with my daughter and I was surprised at how much they emphasized the religious aspect during the tour. On the surface, I think it’s fine, but understand, that there is a big conflict with that and how much I see them valuing their athletics. I think there has to be many Baylor alumni that have these same concerns, that they see their school selling their soul for athletic success.

And it’s hard to imagine Baylor admitting an out Lesbian like Brittney Griner, unless she could play basketball.
