You don’t have to be sad to join an atheist group. You just have to be an attention whore.
You know one of my favorite guys in our church was an atheist until last year. Now he’s one of the happiest and most upbeat persons I know. He wasn’t like that before. He’s a different guy altogether. I knew him away from the church before.
