An EgyptAir flight heading from Paris to Cairo has disappeared from radar, the airline tweeted.

Wow..
That would mean there was lots of time for radio chatter before it went off the radar. I think they know what happened. We’ll see.
Did Fox just report an Emergency Locator Beacon signal has been found?
A deliberate bombing in the passenger area.....shouts of allahu akbar relayed to capt by crew members who then put out distress call. Yup, they know what happened.
Who is reporting that?
If you get the CBS News android app or go to cbsnews.com, they now have a 24 hour news channel CBSN that you can watch online without a cable login.
Thanks, I think I’m done for the night.
SkyNews reports have deliberately avoided using any reference to possible terrorist actions. Now say the plane issued a distress signal one hour AFTER it was due to land in Cairo. Sounds to me like the plane may have been diverted, the transponder turned off, and the passengers taken hostage. That doesn't explain reports of a "fireball" in the above comments, not sure where those have come from.
The plane went down 239 km from the greek island of Karpathos.
Here is the last location of the plane:
FlightAware.com still shows position information recorded after the last known location of the plane. I have no idea what that data actually indicates though.

#MS804 seems that beacon was picked up after aircraft disappeared rather than a distress signal

#MS804 data point rapid acceleration and increase of speed in last minutes. Suicide or hijacking are with high probability!
I am just surmising.....
I would not be surprised.
Looks like a take over of an aircraft or attempt to and an explosive was detonated. Very unfortunate.
I just fixed the formatting.
I’m reading elsewhere that the distress signal is likely the beacon from the downed plane in the ocean. But what do I know.
Right in the middle of the Mediterranean! Just inside their airspace.
UK Guardian:
Updated information from EgyptAir says:
EgyptAir A320 aircraft flight number MS804 lost contact with radar above the Mediterranean sea about 280km (175 miles) from the Egyptian seacoast at 2.30am [local time] as the flight was expected to arrive Cairo airport at 3.15am.
This is quite different to earlier reports from the airline that the last-known contact was around 50km north of the Egyptian coastline.
“Emergency equipment on EgyptAir flight transmitted distress signal at 4:26 a.m.”
CNN now confirming there was no distress call.
This is the ELT going off.
FOX just said no distess call. It was just the beacon.
Yes, mistranslation from Arbic, see the Guardian webpage.
