I agree, we heed to work to ensure that his policies are conservative, but more important, pro-American. Not sure so-called free trade and reckless interventionism that Shapiro and Max Boot and Jonah Goldberg support are very pro-American. And if those are “conservative” positions, maybe I’m not one anymore.

But don’t be fooled: Shapiro, Guy Benson and these other toads have no interest in pushing Trump to the right. They are PERSONALLY threatened by him and think they can be simultaneously anti-Trump and anti-Clinton. Nope.

Shapiro sounds not at all like a reckless interventionist in this op-ed on Syria policy in 2013.

Since the end of the Cold War, Republicans have apparently never met a military action they didn’t support (see Somalia, Sudan, Yugoslavia); Democrats only support wars in full-throated fashion when those wars are waged by Democrats. Nowhere in any of this do American interests come into play.
