And as I pointed out, the only reason Crimea was part of Ukraine, was that Khrushchev transferred it from the Russian SSR to the Ukrainian SSR to try to win over the Ukrainians, when he was still vying to replace Stalin. At that time it was a meaningless gesture because Moscow was still calling the shots.

Kruschev was portrayed as a grandfatherly type when he visited the US in the sixties.

In reality, he was a murderous thug, just like Stalin.
