i won’t patronize a chain that doesn’t allow SA volunteers to solicit. SA is the ONLY charity I’ll donate to, period. Compared to the service they render my contributions ain’t a big deal. I always thank the bell ringers for being there, and slip a quick $ 20 in their bucket. If I’m donating on the way OUT it may be more. Long live the SA. They do good wherever They go ! They deserve all our donations ! They actually help people and their overhead is incredibly low. Long live the SA !
And, I received a "Target" mailer in the mailbox yesterday, with a $20 off coupon, among other "Big Savings". I used to get them all the time, as I got on all of their mailing lists after WBill Jr. was born. (coupons for free diapers and formula? When we're poor as church mice? Sign me up!)
This is the first time I've seen anything like that - outside of the usual Christmas overkill - in years.
I dunno, it's anecdotal. But I'm guessing that their internals are showing some stress.
Yes, but the WalMart Earnings really go in line with the fact the economy is stalling.... When you aren’t getting your overtime hours, or as many jobs etc, you downscale.. IE if you used to shop Macy’s now you shop JC Penny’s.. .etc.. you go to a cheaper store... WalMart is the trailing indicator in a downturn as they are generally the lowest player... so when the slow down start for a little while anyway, the lowest players gain.. for a little bit... .they are the last folks hit.
The entire sector is generally down, Next August is where there can be no doubt if the boycott is working. Target doesn’t have to publicly say anything until then, but then they have to show their hand, and if the boycott is working it will be immediately obvious, as they will be well outside the sectors performance... and the only thing that’s changed is well. their idiotic policy.
We’ll see... question is, are the folks serious or not.. if they are and several million regular customers stay away for 3 months their bottom line will show it in spades... If folks are just talk but no action, TGT will perform like the rest of the sector.
TGT has done these sorts of idiotic things before and in spite of threatened boycotts never paid a real price for it... so we’ll see if this time they finally went too far.
