A devastating inside look at the dark side of Congress as revealed by one of its own! No wonder Congressman X wants to remain anonymous for fear of retribution. His admissions are deeply disturbing. . .
"Most of my colleagues are dishonest career politicians who revel in the power and special-interest money that's lavished upon them."
"My main job is to keep my job, to get reelected. It takes precedence over everything."
"Voters are incredibly ignorant and know little about our form of government and how it works."
"It's far easier than you think to manipulate a nation of naive, self-absorbed sheep who crave instant gratification."
"Fundraising is so time consuming I seldom read any bills I vote on. Like many of my colleagues, I don't know how the legislation will be implemented, or what it'll cost."
"We spend money we don't have and blithely mortgage the future with a wink and a nod. Screw the next generation. It's about getting credit now, lookin' good for the upcoming election."
"The average man on the street actually thinks he influences how I vote. Unless its a hot-button issue, his thoughts are generally meaningless. Ill politely listen, but I follow the money."
So far, Congressman X sounds like a know-it-all-know-nothing.
Oh, and he is a Democrat. Not surprising but in all honesty I am going to guess that 90% of his “confession” would also apply to the Republican Congress parasites.
The reason for the decline into America’s present nadir is all located in Washington, D.C. (District of Corruption) and in many state houses.
These careerists have dithered so long that our nation’s present state may have to be resolved by a right wing cabal. The infection has spread throughout everything that is connected to this central government and that includes the entire system of corrupted courts.
Unless the book has something like the House Bank scandal to reveal, it won’t change a thing. People already have a low opinion of congress, they are looking for someone to really take them on. Like Trump.
We live in an idiocracy now. Stone and Judge foretold the future.
Most people STILL DO NOT KNOW THIS. I hope the book goes so big, congressmen are asked about this stuff on tv, etc. FReepers have known this for decades but most people do not know just how corrupt this government, ESPECIALLY the Congress, really is.
A hundred years ago....people felt it was corrupted. Nothing has changed in the whole period....just more of the same.
Why not put your name on it and do some good in the world?
I think that’s the point of the book
Confessing the corruption we ALL know is happening... yet he(she?) remains Congressman X? A coward, or true fear of death for revealing the least kept “secret” in government?
Term limits: no more than two four-year terms in ANY office and maybe only ONE term if it is a six-year term and NOT jumping from one political job to another.
I've even come up with a legal justification for term limits:
A career politician should be presumed a corrupt politician and if the presumption is rebuttable, the politician must rebut with clear and convincing evidence.
Definitions:
Career politician: one who holds office for more than eight years.
Corrupt politician: one in office who's main objective is his own politician future and not the future of America or his constituents.
No argument here. How else can you explain a presidential candidate who consistently sells the idea of a free lunch? Why doesn't the MSM, just once, ask something other than a fluffball question? How 'bout these:
1) To Obozo: "Why are you the only President in the history of this Republic who has sequestered virtually every record from your and Michelle's past?"
2) To Hillary and Bernie: "So 'free college' means that college and universities will no longer have any expenses; that the faculty and administrators will all work for free, as will maintenance people, and anyone else associated with the university?"
I was a staffer for a Republican member and I can tell you that it absolutely applies to the GOP side of the house as well. The average person has ZERO say on influencing a vote, unless it is something really hot that has a lot of publicity. It’s all about the MONEY, and setting up events in the district to get publicity. You’d be horrified to learn how small the cabal is that really runs your government.
I remember that I laughed when people suggested political campaigns with public funds only. Now I am not so sure
I’m reading a book that was recently recommended by a freeper that probably ties in with this:
Shadow Men: An Encyclopedia of Mind Control by Anthony Napoleon.
It ties in with our current and past potus elections, and it is a very scary book.
Trump has ripped aside the curtains, so we can see the reality of the shadow men and their pundits controlling our voting and beliefs!
If a cop accepted a police job, and with that salary amassed a net worth of 50 million, he would be quickly investigated.
Almost everyone in Congress arrives as high middle class. They leave very wealthy, far beyond the possibility implied from their salary.
