I would like to see an amendment limiting anyone to 18 years in federal elected office—in total.
3 terms as senator = 18
9 terms as congressman = 18
6 terms in congress and 1 term as senator = 18
1 term in senate, 2 term in congress, 2 term president = 18.
Not sure I would throw president into the mix (since it is already term limited at 2), but there should be a limit to the amount of time a person spends in federal office. The founders didn’t want pro politicians. Those that spend 30-40 years in office are a disgrace (imho). The only reason they stay in is because the learn to leverage the power of their office to stay in.
The get-rich-quick way to wealth unlimited....getting elected, doing nothing to speak of, and staying in as long as possible.
I believe 18 yrs is way too much.
