Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Saturday ordered authorities to seize factories that have stopped production and jail their owners, a day after declaring a state of emergency to combat the country's economic crisis.
"We must take all measures to recover productive capacity, which is being paralyzed by the bourgeoisie," he told a rally in Caracas.
"Anyone who wants to halt (production) to sabotage the country should get out, and those who do must be handcuffed and sent to the PGV (Venezuelan General Penitentiary)," he said.

I wonder if they are going to make imaginary products with imaginary supplies.

Beer production stopped because the owners didn’t have the necessary cash to buy the imported ingredients. how will they make beer without hops, malt, etc.?
They’re pretty much gonna have to force them at gunpoint. They aint gonna work for free otherwise.
There was a machine shop in Ontario, Canada, that fought off the machinist union as long as they could until the union finally got the votes to unionize the small company. At the point, the owners made good a promise and shut down the company. The provincial government forced the company back into business. I don’t know what finally happened.
You know, FR ought to have a Book Club about Atlas Shrugged so we could all see what road the socialist fools are really about to point us down. We could even make a book out of it.
Naw. Never happen.
If I had the wherewithal, I’d be dropping copies of Atlas Shrugged from airplanes.
Yeah, it’s a big book to drop on them...but stupid should hurt!
Re: a book about it.
willing seller, willing buyer.
Hope you guys get a good chunk of the purchase price. It be on my kindle now.
Agree. Why even bother to open. Half of the first day would be wasted due to starting up and half of the second day would be spent getting ready to close down. But if what we read is true, that the work week was cut to only two days, don’t understand why they would be arrested for being closed. Maybe Maduro didn’t stipulate which two days they were to work and they closed days he wanted them to be open? This is a no win issue for everyone.
Don’t recall seeing the Venezuela issue being covered on any news broadcasts. If I didn’t read FR postings I wouldn’t have a clue that they had any problems at all.
Maduro will wind up in jail, or worse.
I wonder what they are saying about this on leftist sites? Have they seen the light at all, or are crickets chirping?
Technically, MSN would qualify as a Leftist site, although they believe themselves to be Mainstream Media.
Readers of Solzhenitsyn will recognize the formula. Pity Venezuela has no frozen wilderness to ship a few million citizens.
Wrong. They look at VZ and see success.
See what Bernie said about the bread lines over there.
Prepper Ping List?
——I wonder what they are saying about this on leftist sites? -——
Since most leftist walk around like new born kittens with their eyes closed as well as their mind closed, they won’t see the light...
Simply, they think the right people haven’t tried it yet....and of course these evil capitalist are working against the people....
So if the owners don’t like it, they can leave? If they try to leave, they should be imprisoned?
The bourgeoisie, aka, the middle class. Not to worry, Hillary, Nancy, Harry, and others in the leadership keep telling us that they want to help grown the middle class.
Well, maybe instead of Mexico, The Bern could get Venezuela to pay for all the Free Stuff he wants to hand out....
Venezuela has abundant minerals - Gold near Caracas -, oil, tropical beach for 1500 miles, equatorial weather, no natural disasters, a young, attractive, spirited population, and all the cash it could ever need to borrow from its neighbors.
If socialism can’t work there, it can’t work anywhere, is the lesson here.
——If socialism cant work there, it cant work anywhere, is the lesson here.
Very true...
I so wish a reporter would ask Sanders a detailed question about Venezuela and why it’s a failed state....
I’d pay to hear his answer....
I think/believe that most successful revolutions have been lead/organized by the wealthy of whatever nation is having a revolution. You notice I said ‘successful’? The reasons most often come down to three types.
1. Conservation of the ‘successful revolutionary’s’ assets that make them wealthy.
2. Desire to take from the other citizen’s or wealthy of the nation so as to increase the ‘successful revolutionaries’ personal wealth or holdings.
3. And most rarely, out the desire to lift the yoke of oppression from their fellow citizens and to have the opportunity for all to become more wealthy.
Why this is so is primarily because the Wealthy already have assets and/or an organization that can be utilized in a successful revolution. Secondly the Wealthy more often than not have the education, desire as well as the ability to allocate productive time towards a revolution of the current government.
The poor, the middle class and the professional class are usually missing one of those elements, (time, organization, money and the desire to overturn the status quo.)
