We didn’t have a shower at home, only a bathtub with water from our cistern which my mom heated on the stove. Everyone used the same water. I was the youngest so always bathed last. Kids today would never survive but it was normal for us.

***only a bathtub with water from our cistern which my mom heated on the stove.***

I remember those days. Water from a windmill tank, a wash tub, and an outhouse. Water heated on a coal or butane stove as there was NO wood or trees for forty miles. Kids today have it so tough!

********************************
I spent a couple of weeks every Summer at my grands in Dallas, until about age 13. Claw-foot bathtub. House built in 1905 and no hot water. ....GrMother would heat to near boil two big kettles of water on a gas stove and carry them to the bathtub for baths. Then cold water from the tap would mix and allow human flesh to get into the water. Memories
