She will destroy the military...but half won't get out if she becomes CiC. Too many have too many years invested in retirement.

Now...I would say about 10% might leave...maybe a little less....but there will be those...like me...who will bolt as soon as they get their retirement...rather than staying.

I wouldn’t bet on that.

My father lacked 8 years to pull a full retirement back in the ‘70s. Once he got back from Vietnam, he decided to get out, as he thought the entire military was one big cluster, and the election of Carter underlined it. No one could talk him into staying in, even his battalion commander was unsuccessful. He got out, and never looked back.

I broached the subject of joining the ROTC in ‘77 to help pay for college and to serve the country, but my father was dead set against it. He said he would work three jobs to keep me out of the military, especially under Carter. I ended up not joining up, and worked my own way through college.
