The so-called women problem for Trump and the Reps is really more a function of race/ethnicity than gender. Romney won the white women vote 56% to 42%. The issue is how black and Hispanic women vote. Black women (8% of the total voters) voted 96% for Obama and Hispanic women (6% of the total voters) voted 76% for Obama. This skews the data. Obama won the total women's vote 55% to 44%

It should also be noted that Romney won the married women of all races/ethnicity vote 56% to 42%.. Obama won the single women's vote 62% to 35%. This isn't that surprising since whites marry at a higher percentage than blacks and Hispanics. The out of wedlock birthrates substantiate that.

Trump is likely to poll higher will all types of women than previous candidates since Reagan. His positives in the primaries were very good with all types of demographics. While the charts below don't single out the women vote, they do refute the MSM talking point that he only appeals to undeducated people:
