I can’t see the future, but I still say not even Cruz would pursue such a sure loser. My take, and I could certainly be wrong, is that Cruz is referring to divine consequences. He saw himself as the anointed one/king, and he is on record saying God sanctioned his run.
Think about that.
If you believe you’re the anointed king, would you then believe God ordained/led you to run only to have you go down to ignominious defeat?
Cruz likely believes he was supposed to win, and only the sinful inclinations of voters denied him. [Cruz’ father, an official spokesman for the campaign, has said this in as many words more than once.]
If you believe you were divinely ordained to be POTUS, and only the willfully sinful bent of the voters derailed you, how would you feel? Maybe you’d be magnanimous, but Cruz has exhibited a vengeful streak. He may well be expecting divine retribution on voters and others who, in his mind, rejected the divine plan.
Crazy?
You bet. But you don’t have to dig far into Rafael Sr’s bio to hit pay-dirt crazy.
And some believe the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.
While it sounds crazy to those that are sane, I don’t doubt for one minute that could be his logic. The thing is that I don’t think he’s done making waves and I still expect some shenanigans with the convention. I wouldn’t put anything past him, given his belief that he was the “anointed” one.
