On the right, weve grown to pride ourselves on our greater openness to debate and ideas, on having no need to toe a Politically Correct line or crawl into a safe space like pampered college kids who just cant handle hearing from anyone who disagrees with them.
For myself, I am so personally dedicated to this ideal that I even perform the great personal sacrifice of reading the comments field beneath my articles.
Yet somehow I wasnt surprised to see Donald Trump supporters, those swaggering tough guys, turn one of their favorite Internet forums into a safe space where they no longer need to encounter criticism or opposition. Earlier today, Free Republic proprietor Jim Robinson announced that the discussion board would no longer tolerate opposition to Trumps candidacy.

If you think that is hyperbole, Robert, then you are either ill-informed or rather dull witted or both. What kind of person writes their college thesis on Saul Alinsky and continues to honor him throughout her life? Is the basic trend of the Clinton's policies through the years too obscure for you to identify?
Yay !!!!!!!!!!!!
.
Good clarification.
I thought all the zotted crybaby sore losers were at Liberty Forum, or whatever it’s called. I didn’t know about the Federalist.
Oh well!
Thank you, again for this forum and the site overall. You’ve been a powerful weapon in the fight against communism and tyranny.
Little anecdote, followed by a plea to the Freepers.
I worked for a government letter agency under the Clinton regime, and I RAN for my life from it. I literally started over. No assumed name or anything (they don’t care about my attempts at renaming myself. They’ll find me.) and had conversation with them a few years later about how to stay off their radar.
And it pretty much comes to secrets. If I don’t tell, no one cares.
If we are to beat Hillary (And she’s a monster, BTW) we’ll need to leave no topic off the table. And I think that we’ll need to discuss her offer to disclose alien secrets upon election.
This is actually a bold election-getter on her part..
If she stays on this path, I know a few people at that letter agency who should intervene. But so far they haven’t. And Hillary should be afraid of these people intervening but she doesn’t appear to care.
She never appears to care because I seriously happen to believe her brain is damaged and can no longer process emotions.
Trump can be one of the best things to ever happen to the US (I’ve been Supporting a Trump white house since 92) and Hillary will certainly be the worst thing. Hillary will nuke her own people because she feels like it.
Is this author the same guy who asked for an interview with you a few weeks back? Didn’t he get booted from the forum before that?
Eschoir...got to be him....he is always in the shadows....
I agree, probably one of those FR moles that get weeded out and zotted from time to time.
“Liberty Forum”
Flash in a pan is being generous.
Trump IS the candidate. Opposition to him being the candidate is going to achieve nothing at this point.
Stayin alive, stayin alive. Ah, ah, ah, ah... beat you by 4 days...noob. :)
Sorry, I don't know the secret handshake.
I was planning on voting for Cruz until the morning of our primary (Michigan) and made my final decision to vote for Trump in the voting booth. I've been following Dr. Anthony Napoleon, forensic psychologist, on twitter @Napoleonlegal and have read three of his books now. He delves into the brainwashing that all of us undergo throughout or lives and the mess that Shadow Men have made of our nation through subtle and not so subtle propaganda. It is his contention that Trump is almost immune to this and is an excellent fit for what this country needs to turn it around. His radio interviews are available on YouTube and he has a web page too. Very fascinating person. Be prepared, he doesn't suffer fools though, if you check him out on twitter.
The guy with a bigger ego than Trump... Do you NOT know who I am... said CW Wright? Oh, I am just fine with Trump's ego... Wright's NOT at all.
This is a massive over-reaction. Free Republic has never been a free-for-all. It has always been a moderated forum. For instance, I’m an atheist, and I can post on here, but I’m not welcome to mix it up in threads ear-marked Religion. I can deal with that. I’m also not anti-abortion, but I know that the forum overwhelmingly is. So I generally don’t bother getting into pointless tussles over it. If Trump’s the nominee, he has my support. If Cruz or Rubio or Carson had been the nominee, any of them would have my support. No point crying over spilt milk. The point really is to get the most conservative President we can of the choices that remain.
The author does not seem to understand that FR is not a public forum, it is private property. Your private property. As the owner, you have an unrestricted right to decide what we as posters can and cannot say in your forum.
Since you outline the goals and purpose of this site on the homepage, this should be self evident to the writer. Anyone who understands and appreciates this site should accept your limitations, it is not like you keep them secret.
Further, while I am a Cruz supporter, who does not care for Trump, the primary is effectively over. The objective is to defeat the liberal cancer personified by Herself and The One that infects the American body politic. Trump is the best available, if imperfect tool to do so. I will reluctantly cast my vote for him, as allowing Clinton back in the White House is simply unconscionable.
IF what you claim is to be a time for truth then quit itching and get to work.
Sounds like someone at The Federalist is missing Free Republic.
Ok.
Thank you very much. God bless.
