Cruz Running for Re-election in 2018
Texas Tribune ^ | 5-11-16 | Patrick Svitek

Posted on 05/11/2016 11:33:55 AM PDT by bigbob

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, plans to run for re-election in 2018.

Cruz, who ended his presidential campaign last week, said "yes" when asked Wednesday morning by a reporter in Washington, D.C., if he would seek a second term, according to CNN and The Hill. Cruz's office later confirmed the exchange.

The announcement adds some clarity to Cruz's political future following his decision to exit the presidential race on May 3. While Cruz could change his mind, running for re-election in 2018 puts to rest some speculation he would sit out a second term to prepare for a comeback bid for the White House in 2020.

Cruz was first elected to the Senate in 2012, when he upset then-Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst in the Republican primary to replace Kay Bailey Hutchison.

I believe much of that has already been debunked here. You fail to remember that much of our media is not our friend.

You are the one that is failing to see what is right in front of you and obviously, you didn’t read the links I sent you that debunks much more of what you believe about Trump.

You realize your continued #NeverTrump posts are no longer allowed on Free Republic???

That’s how well you pay attention to what is going on here (and really how you are so out of touch with all the vetting of both candidates that has happened here) and stay in your little bubble.

Of course, you admitted you don’t trust Free Republic so you are just here to start trouble.

First off, they have not been debunked and if you feel you that you can debunk them, feel free to do so. But since the liberal views came from Trump himself, they stand as is until shown otherwis.

Second, I have never said nor supported #NeverTrump. What I have said is that I would hold my nose and vote for Trump in the General, assuming that he remains true to what he has promised during his campaign; so stop putting words in my mouth.

The links you sent are your opinions and do not debunk anything.

If anyone has started trouble it is you who has hijacked a thread that was about trying to organize a primary effort against a staunch conservative and have turned it into a diatribe against those who are cautious about the candidate that you supported. Fine, you are entitled to your opinion, just as I am entitled to mine.

I think Cruz is going to have a very hard time getting reelected; and will surely have multiple primary challengers.

So much falsehood.

Dewhurst never ran as an incumbent senator.

“Unlikable” Cruz beat the establishment candidate for Senate. That’s not “unlikable” by any measure.

These sneering, juvenile posts prove more than ever that this is not about supporting Trump, but about denigrating Cruz. Leave him alone, he doesn’t concern you anymore.

Like I said you haven't been paying attention to all the vetting here and it shows in your ignorant statements.

I don't understand why you are here because you admitted, you don't trust Free Republic so it's pretty obvious you are just here to start trouble.

All those links you sent are from the unfriendly media, especially towards Trump. Many of them are part of the anti-Trump/NeverTrump crowd and of course they are going to distort and lie about Trump. You fail to see that.

Plus, you really haven't been paying attention that you are not supposed to do that here anymore with the anti-Trump/NeverTrump BS per, Jim, the owner of this site:

Our overriding conservative mission on Free Republic is to defend God, family, country!

I'm not trying to hijack anything, you are the one that continues with the anti-Trump/NeverTrump BS, and admit you don't trust Free Republic. So again, why are you even here??? The only logical reason is to cause trouble and that is no longer allowed on FR if you read the link I sent you from the owner of this site.

“Leave him alone, he doesn’t concern you anymore.”

Au contraire. Every single U.S. Senator concerns me, as each and every U.S.
Senator should concern you and every other American. Each one’s influence is hardly restricted to the state that elected him. Cruz’s impact reaches beyond TX, as Durbin’s does beyond IL.

I’d love nothing better than to not give another single thought to Sen. Cruz and his role in the 2016 presidential race, and will do just that when he stops playing games with his delegates vs. Trump at the convention. Cruz is the sneering, arrogant, sore loser juvenile.

And, btw, you totally misunderstood my post to which you chose to respond.

I know. It’s like the freaking Twilight Zone.

Texas loves him. He fulfilled every promise. He’ll have no problem getting reelected

Liberals are the ones pushing to get him booted. No real sane conservative would ever consider as much. Liberals HATE him. So do RINOS.

In YOUR opinion, the vetting here is sufficient. In my opinion, it is not. What I have noticed is that the VAST majority of Freepers have NOT done any research. For example, most don’t know that Trump supports universal health care WHICH IS A VERY LIBERAL/COMMUNIST POSITION - something that I am VERY opposed to. Other Freepers here have supported Jeb, Rubio, Kasich, Romney, etc. If anything, that tells me that there is a LACK of vetting.

Your belief that Freepers are the end all authority for vetting candidates is the logic fallacy known as bandwagon. You are attempting to assert that because a lot of people support your candidate that there is some form of validation of your position.

Another logic fallacy that you are suffering from is called personal incredulity, Just because you don’t understand why I am here does not logically lead to the conclusion you want to draw. As I have stated before, and will state again. I am a conservative and I support conservatives and conservative causes. As long as Trump remains and governs from a conservative approach, I will support him even if I don’t care for his personal style.

I noticed that you have not refuted a single LIBERAL QUOTE FROM TRUMP. The best you can do is show a flip in his positions. As long as he has moved towards a conservative position, I am ok with that. However, it is my experience that candidates who suddenly find “religion” often do not stick with those positions. There is a natural backsliding to their liberal values. So again, as long as Trump REMAINS conservative, I will hold my nose over his personality flaws and support him. HOWEVER, IF HE MOVES AWAY from those conservative positions, if he starts acting like the GOPe / Romney, he will not receive my support.

But none of this is the topic of this thread. The topic of this thread is the stated desire in the 1st post of this thread, to primary out Sen Cruz. So yes, you are hijacking this thread. Once again, I have not ever supported NeverTrump that logical fallacy is called a false strawman. You are attempting to bolster your position by creating an argument that does not exist so you can more easily tear down that argument.

And again, because of your logic fallacies, your perceptions are incorrect.

Huh? Trump wants competitive healthcare across state lines so as to dismantle Ocare.

As for Cruz, he’s a GOPe crony. NeverAnOutsider. He wrote George W’s Amnesty papers.

He’s a Canadian who lied to Texas in ‘12 about his past associations and tried to claim he was “Tea Party”

NOT.

Sorry, but you are incorrect on Trumps position with regards to health care. But don’t listen to me, listen to Trump himself:

As for Cruz being a crony of the GOPe, consider what John Boehner called Cruz and then consider what Boehner called Trump and tell me who is the crony. Boehner and Trump are golfing buddies.

Sen Cruz WAS a Canadian and is also born a US Citizen. The logic fallacy you are attempting to use is called cherry picking. This happens when you provide only those facts which bolster your argument and not providing all of the relevant information.

But all of this discussion is not within the scope of this thread. This thread was started by the assertion that Sen Cruz who has been a SOLID conservative, needs to be primaries out of office. If Trump is going to govern from a conservative position, he will need as many conservative allies as he can possibly have in the Senate. Trying to take out potential allies just because they ran against you is just plain stupid.

You’re stuck in August of 2015 with your anti-Trump memes.

Do you understand how the Uniparty works?

Rove pays protesters like Code Pink. It’s an old trick, “rent-a-mob”.

If you believe for one second that Boehner didn’t “back” Trump in order to help Cruz temper his very strong GOPe creds, you don’t understand the GOPe Splitter Strategy that Trump trumped.

Methinks you are a Bushie troll.

Cruz is not a solid conservative

Cruz sold out to McConnell with Rand Paul that resulted in Mississippi 14

Cruz obfuscated on Amnesty, TPA/TPP, blah blah blah.

He was part of a GOPe team that cast him as the “Tea Partier” with Boehner’s approval.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/rickungar/2013/10/07/john-boehner-and-ted-cruz-the-real-life-pinky-and-the-brain/print/

Good Ol’ Boys Club — Cruz is a big time member. Tricked Palin and the Tea Party in ‘12.

Never accomplished ANYTHING but consternation in the Senate.

And Cruz’s rude rebuff of Sarah Palin after she endorsed Trump revealed everything about his character.

And it was not one of his campaign workers who posted.
