Cruz Running for Re-election in 2018
Texas Tribune ^ | 5-11-16 | Patrick Svitek

Posted on 05/11/2016 11:33:55 AM PDT by bigbob

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, plans to run for re-election in 2018.

Cruz, who ended his presidential campaign last week, said "yes" when asked Wednesday morning by a reporter in Washington, D.C., if he would seek a second term, according to CNN and The Hill. Cruz's office later confirmed the exchange.

The announcement adds some clarity to Cruz's political future following his decision to exit the presidential race on May 3. While Cruz could change his mind, running for re-election in 2018 puts to rest some speculation he would sit out a second term to prepare for a comeback bid for the White House in 2020.

Cruz was first elected to the Senate in 2012, when he upset then-Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst in the Republican primary to replace Kay Bailey Hutchison.

It’s hilarious to hear Cruz criticized by Trump people for not being conservative.

Almost as hilarious as Cruz calling Trump supporters “low info” and then expecting their support in 2018. Could get rough for Cruz since 5 million “low info” Texans will vote Trump in November.

It’s relative.

The point is even when the GOP controlled all 3 branches
they screwed conservatives over.

I remember when Cruz was a conservative’s conservative. What happened, except in your mind?

Where should I start? Dishonestly campaigning for Obama’s TPA, using the occasion of conservatives being assaulted to attack Trump, etc. There is no longer anything principled or conservative about Ted Cruz.

Yes I did send money to trump months ago
Voluntary donations were always welcome if they came from individuals unlike the Soros money that bankrolled Ted’s flying monkeys

I believe his election cost is a shared responsibility among all who will benefit

Now you put up your money to reelect your bible thumping charlatan and his Stepford wife banker

I will donate $$$ to anyone challenging him for reelection.”

Even if it is George P. Bush or Dewhurst? Cruz has a lot of fence mending to do but he is way better a Senator for Texas than Cornyn and certainly than Kay Bailey ever was.

Making a bank eat your loan is called deadbeat.

WOW! Such conservative principles! What did you say when George W. Bush and Barack Obama made the GM Bond Holders eat their preferred debt? Should there be bankruptcy laws at all?

As I said, I don’t care who. Cruz hasn’t stood down from losing the nomination, and deserves to be retired. Period. I am tired of Cruz and his supporters still pushing him. So, yes, anyone.

No banks ate any loan
They either restructured the debt - which Trump then repaid at lower interest over longer terms - - or they got control of the business to,operate as they saw fit
Remember that the banks were partners with trump, and shared the risk that the business would fail - as trump said these were big boys not small debt holders
The fact that this business bankruptcy was triggered only 4 times in a $ 10 billon dollar 40 year business career is pretty remarkable success record
In fact his biggest creditor in one of the bankruptcies was Carl Icahn who is a friend and associate to this day

Personally, I’d be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and learn from his mistakes of the present in the hope that he becomes an ally of the future.
Why? Has Lyin' Ted changed his ways? Is he tellin' the truth now? When did that happen?

Actually, there is a long list of other more important reasons that justify removal of this loon from public service. Seems like Texas Pride should be one of them.

I won’t provide the list here, because I know some of the Cruz supporters are still healin’. Poor souls need a group hug. O O O

Certainly hope you don’t vote in Texas. To say that you would prefer someone like George P. Bush to Cruz is, IMO, ludicrous. He has been a much better Senator for Texas than Kay Bailey or Cornyn.

Didn’t vote for Cruz for President but did campaign for him as Senator and would vote for his re-election in a New York minute.

Cornyn is the Senator we need to get rid of.

People who fault Cruz for a $1M loan from Goldman and refuse to see the hundreds of millions of loans to Trump

The BIG difference is Trump is good for it cruz isn't.....

Even though Trump has tremendous drive and energy, Trump would be 78 at the end of his second term.

Ah yes, the old argument that since I can’t or won’t refute your argument, I’ll just accuse you of supporting the other side. It comes in different versions.

If you dont support Trump, you are supporting Hillary
If you dont support Romney, you are supporting Obama
If you dont support McCain.....

Heard it all before and it is just as weak now as it was then.

I am a Conservative. I vote FOR conservatives and conservative issues. I have work hard within the GOP to elect conservatives in every position starting at the local precinct level, state level, and even the national level.

Will I vote for Trump in the general? Yes, I will most likely hold my nose and vote for him. I pray that he will govern as a conservative. I fear that he will not.

But if he wants to shut out the GOPe, if Trump wants to govern as a conservative, he can’t do it alone. He will need conservatives in the Senate and in the House. For Trumpers to try and primary out a solid conservative candidate just because their candidate was in a hard fight for the nomination ... that is pure folly.

Umm, you do remember the fact that Trump was NOT good for the loan right? That he filed for bankruptcy so that he didn’t have to pay for that loan ... right?
