The 16 black West Point cadets who caused a stir after posing for a photograph with raised fists wont be disciplined over the image, the U.S. Military Academy said Tuesday.
An internal investigation launched after the snapshot surfaced online has ended with authorities deciding not to discipline the cadets, but to offer them additional counseling ahead of their graduation on May 21, West Points superintendent, Lt. Gen. Robert Caslen Jr., said in a letter to the academys student body this week.
While the inquiry did not find that these cadets violated a policy or regulation, it did determine that they demonstrated a lapse of awareness in how symbols and gestures can be misinterpreted and cause division, he wrote on Tuesday to the Corps of Cadets. The impact of this photo, regardless of its intent, is evident. It is unfortunate that this perception brought attention to our Alma Mater for all the wrong reasons.
West Point confirmed last week that an investigation was launched amid concerns raised by the photograph, which shows 16 female members of the Military Academys Class of 2016 posing in uniform on school property with their fists raised in the air.

Imagine the outcry if those had been white cadets.
What you condone you will get more of.
From Dwight Eisenhower, Douglass MacArthur and George Patton...to these things.
I didn’t realize West Point had fallen so far.
Immediately upon completing their obligatory time as military officers, they shall resign their commissions and become the officer cadre for the Black Liberation Army, and use their acquired skills to foment an internal revolution against the US government.
Their allegiance is not, and never shall be, with the US flag and the Republic for which it stands. But first, they have to complete their training, establishing a suitable cover much like Major Nidal Hasan, before he went all Islamic jihadist on his fellow soldiers.
I seem to recall a much larger kerfluffle over a bunch of Marines posing with an SS lightning-bolt flag.
Black privilege?
What's the betting line that if it had been white men posing as klansmen, then they would have been bounced out of the Academy?
“Intent” is irrelevant.
It’s clearly “Conduct Unbecoming a Cadet”.
Can’t wait until the KKK establishes a beachhead at this idiotic place. If blacks can Black Panther it up, so can the whites.
PC is much bigger than the United States Military.
“These are the best of the best”
No, they are not. Those days are LONG gone.
America’s once respected institutions have sunk below disgusting, including Harvard, and West Point.
Obama is at the core of this liberal holocost, brainwashing from kindergarten to a masters degree.
They're black females.
They're untouchable.
The only way they could be more untouchable is if they claimed to be men.
“They should have their promotion timetables delayed six months to a year.”
They should be expelled. NO president should ever have officers that racist.
No wonder they can’t beat Navy.
The Honor Code is most definitely dead...which means the Academies are too. May as well shut them down.
Or Lesbians.
They could not have proven the cadets intent. Without proving their intent, nothing could be done.
(not speaking to you) but you know GD well what their intentions are.... little bitches know EXACTLTy what they are doing...Whoa be to the white E-1 through E-9 who has to endure their insufferable shit. I am so glad i did my duty back in the 80’s.....Had black radicals in the military then....small number....I could go on a filthy rapapge over this....
