There are legitimate arguments for being friendly with the bulk of Muslims, but certainly “be friendly or we will attack you” is not one of them.

I'm all in favor of friendly political and diplomatic relations with non-Islamist Muslim nations. That doesn't mean that we should welcome millions of them as immigrants into the US or Western Europe.

Immigration like other policies should be based on national interest. So the question that should be asked is “Why is it in our national interest to import any Muslim?” Is there a compelling reason that we cannot do without any?

In some cases there might be a compelling reason, and then each case should be thoroughly vetted. And this policy should apply to all immigrants. We want to know who’s coming in and whether it benefits us.
