The politicians on both sides play to the gullibility of the audience. So, painting Trump as a con is done by reference to the Trump-U lawsuit, bankruptcies, etc. I'm not saying those claims have merit, just that they exist.

As for Hillary being a criminal, she just denies it, and the officials in the government give her cover. She might be careless, but she's not a criminal.

The alternative label for Trump, loose cannon, is seen by some as a positive attribute, that's why it isn't as powerful as "con."

Trump will wait and see which punch Hillary and the DEMs decide to throw, he'll counterpunch.
