Ted Cruz repeatedly declined to endorse Donald Trump for president on Tuesday as he returned to the Senate for the first time since dropping out of the presidential race.
The Texas senator, who finished second to Trump in winning 565 delegates in the GOP primary, according to The New York Timess delegate tracker, said there is plenty of time to make a decision on an endorsement.
There are two and a half months until the Republican convention, six months until the general election, Cruz told reporters crowded outside his Russell Building office. There will be plenty of time for voters to make the determination who theyre going to support, he continued, saying it would be incumbent on Trump to convince pro-Cruz voters to support him in the general election.
Cruzs return to the Senate, where he has not cast a vote since February, came one week after he ripped Trump as an utterly amoral pathological liar, narcissist and bully. Later that night, Trump soundly defeated the Texan in Indianas primary, a loss that Cruz said cut off any path he had toward the GOP nomination.

Was your comment directed at me?
Which speaks volumes.
Damned politicians. And Senators.... I think I've gotta barf.
...Big time ping....
Thanks, S.
Nope. Just adding onto what you said. The “Cruz should just release his delegates and then go kill himself” crowd is being deliberately obtuse. He’s not the first to ever suspend a campaign and not release his delegates and I doubt he’ll be the last. Some people act as if they’ve never witnessed a political campaign before. :-(
Why would a canadian endorse Trump and why would Trump want it?
Okay!
At least it’s not a dull campaign season. ;-)
No votes except for ObamaTRADE for the lying
bastard known as Ashley Cruz.
Lying Ted was too busy banging his Bang of Eight
and cashing his Goldman Sachs checks.
If he has violated that public pledge, what pledges can we expect him to honor?
******************************
Cruz and Rubio both signed the pledge to support the GOP nominee.
The nominee will be chosen by delegates’ votes at the convention in July.
Rubio announced his support tonight on CNN
Seems Linda's buddies are really quiet , Kelly Ayotte and Juan McCain in tough races as will Linda's will be too
“Not sure what the unmentioned frosting is for that cake.”
a no bill?
“..he continued, saying it would be incumbent on Trump to convince pro-Cruz voters to support him in the general election.”
Says who? Either you like him and vote for him or you don’t. Trump doesn’t need to kiss anyone’s ring.
I would say it is incumbent that Cruz, who lost, endorse Trump in order to bridge the divide and thus unify the party.
Sore Loserman v.2
Cruz is no better than Ryan. He signed the pledge. Now we know what his word is worth
Sorry Ted you lost. You need to help unify the party else wise you and Yeb and Linda can pound sand
No this is Cruz and beck and Levin’s being petulant
And do you expect that to be some one other than trump?
its free trade that divides
I can even understand a bit of petulant. A ton of emotion goes into be a candidate. Add to that going up against a guy like Trump and I say cooling off time is understandable.
Stay classy Trump fans, most of us will vote against Hillary rather than stay home. We may have clothespins on, but we’ll vote for Trump after he is nominated.
Trumpers are willing to let bygones be bygones after a spirited primary. Unfortunately, Ted Cruz has signaled to his surrogates to continue attacking Trump. First we had the tantrum press conference the day he dropped out and now we have this “I may get back in the race” nonsense. Don’t think you can hide behind “we’ll vote for Trump” while Cruz surrogates campaign for Hillary at the behest of Ted Cruz. Ted Cruz simply has no interest in unifying the party and he will pay a price for his tantrums.
Then he ought to just say he plans on keeping his pledge
