The Citadel military college has decided a newly accepted Muslim student cannot wear her traditional Muslim headscarf if she enrolls.

The South Carolina school announced ....... allowing the student to wear the head covering known as a hijab wouldn't be consistent with the school's policy of having cadets look similar.

The school in Charleston is known for its buttoned-up uniforms and close-cropped haircuts that represent the sacrifice of one's self for the greater goals of the unit.

"Uniformity is the cornerstone of this four-year leader development model. The standardization of cadets in apparel, overall appearance, actions and privileges is essential to the learning goals and objectives of the college," Citadel President retired Lt. Gen John Rosa said in a statement.

Strict discipline and tradition are the cornerstones of The Citadel and the school in the 1990s fought the enrollment of women cadets before relenting.

Why should they contemplate changing their policies on uniformity?

It's a private institution and they have their policies. If an applicant does not choose to abide with the school policies, then he or she should be refused admission.

In a righteous world, yes, what you said.

But wait and see what happens. I am guessing Loretta Lynch will be all over this very soon.

I’m guessing the Citadel will collapse. Somewhere Pat Conroy will be smiling.

Great job by the Citadel standing up against Radical Islam and Political Correctness. I wish more American institutions had such courage.

Pay attention to the coordination that will occur shortly between CAIR and the Dept. of Justice.

Obama has chosen to raise up CAIR has his voice for all things Muslim in the USA. CAIR is one of his brownshirt organizations and “community-organizing” arms

The military wears UNIFORMS. If she does not like it, she can quit. Like many, I am sick of the pandering to Muslims that comes STRAIGHT from the White House. Get rid of all of it.

Apparently a Sikh hasn’t applied to The Citadel yet.

Ibrahim Hooper (CAIR):

“Hooper said the family is considering legal options after the school’s rejection.”

>>>> $$$ for lawyers and forced islam <<<<<

“The woman was crying this morning after getting the call, Hooper said.”

>>>>Crybabies don’t belong at the Citadel.<<<<<

“She told the commandant that it wasn’t fair that she had to choose between going to the school and her faith, Hooper said.”

>>>>Sure it is, otherwise she could pick a Jewish school.<<<<<

“It’s the same issue faced by African-Americans and women in this situation,” Hooper said. “We view it as a continuation of the civil rights movement.

Her faith??? Doesn’t her faith (the forced hijab-wearing section) say that she shouldn’t be at a coed, much less male-dominated school? Isn’t being at a military school along with so many men and doing all of the activities required going to compromise her Muslim “modesty” completely?

This whole thing is crazy. She can’t have it both ways, but as others have said, this is just an activist ploy.

He or she probably has...but is most likely a good bit more agreeable.

It was obvious that this was about the forthcoming lawsuit from the start.

Just like the muzzy/bomb/clock.

What exactly is the basis for a lawsuit??? Are these people serious???

And, educate us, as to how a Muslim girl can go to a military academy such as the Citadel in the first place. Devout Muslims females aren’t allowed out in public without a male relative or husband. Devout Muslim females can’t be seen dressed in the clothes they wear at the Citadel.

Seems to.me.like a contradiction in terms for a Muslim girl to go to the Citadel in the first place. Maybe some liberals or CAIR types can explain the logic???

“Family considers lawsuit”

Yeh who saw that coming? A female Muslim longs to attend military school. Not likely.

Let’s not forget the sacrifice of Cadet Nick Pinelli, who put this up on Facebook & now is being punished with walking punishment tours until the day he graduates.

As a result, Citadel alumni including myself deluged the Board of Visitors with emails opposing the Shariafication of the Corps of Cadets & LTG Rosa the school president finally buckled. BTW, this `inclusive’ notion was his idea.

Do I exaggerate? Ms. Hijabi Muslimah would have had the barber shop to herself, only females could enter her room or issue corrections, Sharia-compliant PT uniforms would be provided, along with halal food at all meals.

So Fibrahim Hooper & terrorist-linked CAIR threaten to jump in? Bring it; The Citadel is located in the most lawyer-rich city in S.C. Have him & his fellow jihadis show up on campus with their beards, kufi caps, & supremacist attitude. Might not go down too well.

“It’s the same issue faced by African-Americans and women in this situation,” Hooper said. “We view it as a continuation of the civil rights movement.

It is high time for Americans to stop accepting the sacrosanct mantra of "The Civil Rights Movement". Once it stopped being about "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character", the "Civil Rights Movement™" became and remains just another shakedown-con job to coerce Americans into accepting Liberal policies.
