Former Illinois resident here, now living in desert southwest. Spectacularly predictable and boring weather. Something like 300 cloudless days. We did get a rather robust downpour a couple of days ago. I do miss the four seasons, and tornado season especially.
I would open my basement door for quick access during violent weather that was on top of me, as I sat at my computer desk, refreshing the National Weather Service’s Doplar radar images, in motion loop configuration.
I counted 8 paces from the desk to the basement stairs, and that was when I was calm. Pumped full of Adrenalin, that estimate would likely be cut down to about 6 paces or 3 seconds elapsed time. Yeah I was brave... or foolish. A close call is what prompted me to figure out my safety route and plan of action. Woot! Woot!
Hang in there... and enjoy the ride where applicable. ;O)
Or as my uncle who moved there for a few years.said : “Another G D beautiful day. I love atorma and often sit on porch ant watch them. gods fireworks. And the rain on the metal roof cannot be beat.
It is only the wind that concerns me.
