I Am Going To Vote For Trump Though It Makes Me Want To Projectile Vomit
townhall.com ^ | 5/9/2016 | Kurt Schlichter

I intend to vote for Donald Trump, and just typing those words makes me throw up a little. Make that a lot, and for distance. Yeah, I know Trump is a clown, but so is Hillary Clinton, and while he’s sort of an irascible and tacky Ronald McDonald, she is freaking Pennywise.

Now, if you want to see my Trump-slamming bona fides, you can Google my CNN appearances where I was the go-to conservative who would reliably trash the loudmouth Republican nominee until I dared attack Hillary and mussed their carefully coiffed narrative. But I haven't changed my mind about anything I said. Trump is terrible. It's just that I believe Hillary is infinitely worse.

About 90% of my friends are in the #NeverTrump category. Hell, my wife is #NeverTrump. This is understandable since I hang with a lot of hard-core conservatives and similar quality people. They tell me it's an act of principle to refuse to vote for Trump, and I agree - completely and without reservation. No sarcasm here – believe me, I get it.

“Hillarycare”

Did we ever call it Hillary care back in the 90’s? I don’t think so. This word was interesting though.

It’s a plaster-saint problem. Earnest Christians should have been raising their eyebrows the moment Cruz and Beck became bro’s. This was the chance for the discernment-meisters to show their stuff, but they blowed it real good. Donald isn’t simon-pure here, but he puts a lot more emphasis on the secular, which is more credible in a secular realm.

I was never into Beck, even on Fox. His drama was a turn off. Cruz himself in that debate wherein he flat out lied about 'natural born' US citizenship turned me off. Up to that point Cruz's claim to fame was following the 'original intent' of the Constitution... Any Christian worth his/her salt ought to know about what happened to Esau when he sold his birthright. God took his blessing and had it penned two times, Jacob I loved, Esau I hated. Christians should never mess with birthrights.

Trump is not playing 'saint', never has. What I like most about Trump is that he without question loves this nation. We have not had this kind of affection for this nation since Reagan.

I agree! It’s just so stupid.

You have two candidates running. You choose the one who you’d RATHER see at the helm. It’s often the lesser of two bad choices in lots of eyes, but that’s what you’re doing. You’re choosing the best you can from what your choices are.

As imperfect as Romney was, does anyone really think the country would be as bad as it is now? At least you wouldn’t have A FREAKIN’ TRAITOR IN THE PEOPLE’S HOUSE.

Obama may have caused irreparable damage, but as long as you didn’t compromise your “principles”, well that’s just great. Happy with the results? (Not you, HotHunt....you know what I mean.)

I think most of us will come around and vomit as well. I've made my peace with the situation and will vote Trump in November.

Hillary=Third world cesspool, Trump=Something else

. . .he watched the movie ?? Or read the book ? It’s not like Stephen King is an obscure writer. . .

Do you remember that poem that became popular in the early Seventies, Desiderata, with the phrase "vexatious to the spirit?"

I have avoided Stephen King in all his forms like the plague that he is, for that reason. He is "vexatious to the spirit" and I will not submit to his beguiling filth.

Yes, I get your point.

I have principles too but I consider myself a realistic optimist. I'm not so rigid that I can't see the reality that unless I vote for the person who opposes the Left, I am contributing to the decline of the country by the liberals. Would I rather have a better candidate to vote for? You betcha.

But sitting out the national presidential election is a disgrace, principles or not. There is not perfect world nor perfect candidates.

There are still some of his true believers out stumping for him, here in West Virginia just this weekend there were about a dozen Cruz supporters holding up signs by the side of the road. I (politely) asked them if they realized he had dropped out of the race. They said he was still on the ballot and they still believed that he could deny Trump enough delegates to keep him from getting the nomination on the first ballot at the convention and Cruz would be chosen on the second ballot.

We could call them "Ted-enders"...

Well, ok then. But then don’t complain about pop culture references if you refuse to follow pop culture.

Besides, prefer this one:

“Deteriorata” - National Lampoon

You are a fluke of the universe. You have no right to be here.
Deteriorata. Deteriorata.

Go placidly amid the noise and waste,
And remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.
Avoid quiet and passive persons, unless you are in need of sleep.
Rotate your tires.
Speak glowingly of those greater than yourself,
And heed well their advice, even though they be turkeys.
Know what to kiss, and when.
Consider that two wrongs never make a right, but that three do.
Wherever possible, put people on hold.
Be comforted that in the face of all aridity and disillusionment,
and despite the changing fortunes of time,
There is always a big future in computer maintenance.

Remember The Pueblo.
Strive at all times to bend, fold, spindle, and mutilate.
Know yourself. If you need help, call the FBI.
Exercise caution in your daily affairs,
Especially with those persons closest to you -
That lemon on your left, for instance.
Be assured that a walk through the ocean of most souls
Would scarcely get your feet wet.
Fall not in love therefore. It will stick to your face.
Gracefully surrender the things of youth: birds, clean air, tuna, Taiwan.
And let not the sands of time get in your lunch.
Hire people with hooks.
For a good time, call 606-4311. Ask for Ken.
Take heart in the bedeepening gloom
That your dog is finally getting enough cheese.
And reflect that whatever fortune may be your lot,
It could only be worse in Milwaukee.

You are a fluke of the universe.
You have no right to be here.
And whether you can hear it or not,
The universe is laughing behind your back.

Therefore, make peace with your god,
Whatever you perceive him to be - hairy thunderer, or cosmic muffin.
With all its hopes, dreams, promises, and urban renewal,
The world continues to deteriorate.
Give up!

Sadly there are members of the party organization who will gladly try to punish Republican voters for getting fed up with their stupid politician tricks & lies. Even going so far as getting this country’s version of Christina Kirchner elected to the presidency knowing full well it will be a disaster for the nation .

The bastards just don’t care ! It is just that simple .

I have been objecting to that - and ALL commentary added in title fields - for more than 14 years. I think it’s absolutely idiotic. We can decide for ourselves how we care to respond to an article; we are not infants needing to be told the expected reaction.
