I stumbled upon Frank Luntz on Fox about the time this happened ( Trump lambasting McCain ) and the last women to speak said something to this effect: That Trump wasn't wrong, it is what veterans are saying on the down-low.

It was culture shock as one that hasn't served, and talking like Trump did, I have no right. However, if she is correct that Vets think this way of McCain, that is a different ballgame entirely...

As I faintly recall from those many years ago when McCain was a POW, he was being called “Canary” by other POWs because of collaboration.
