Bush chief of staff: A Trump presidency scares me
CBS News ^ | May 6, 2016 | Reena Flores

Posted on 05/06/2016 7:22:58 AM PDT by Rennes Templar

Andy Card, who served as chief of staff to President George W. Bush, said on "CBS This Morning" Friday that the idea of Donald Trump as president worries him, citing the billionaire's "emotional" reactions as cause for concern.

"Yes, he scared me," Card said. "I will admit, when Donald Trump entered the race, I didn't think he had a chance."

"I want him to succeed, but he's gotta make the move to show me that he's worthy of my support, worthy of my vote," he added. "I will vote for a candidate -- right now I will probably write in a name, but I will vote. But I want him to really pay attention to the responsibility of being a president. Presidents do not have the luxury of making easy decisions. They make brutal, tough decisions."

Card, now the president of Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire, was also an adviser to President Ronald Reagan and President George H.W. Bush. Card was the White House chief of staff on Sept. 11, 2001, and headed the younger Mr. Bush's White House Iraq Group.

Joining other prominent Republicans who have said they could not back Trump, both Bush presidents said earlier this week that they would not endorse the Manhattan business mogul in his bid for the Oval Office.

The former White House adviser told the "CBS This Morning" co-hosts that Trump would have to change his behavior toward the Republican Party if he wants to win in a general election.

"He's gotta demonstrate that he cares about everybody in the party," Card said. "He has to change how he will be perceived to do the job. It's not all about Donald Trump now."

Of some Trump policies, Card dismissed them, saying "he's just giving a quick response."

We don’t know for certain what the results of a Trump administration would be but we do know the outcomes of two Bush administrations:

(1) Bill Clinton

(2) Barack Hussein Obama

Neither Bush was a good president. Both were good for the left.

Not sure Trump “Worthy of my support” from Andy Card?? Wow.

Well we KNOW that the Bushes, EITHER OF THEM, weren't worthy of OUR support! They have been a sheer DISASTER for America and, at this point, I am pretty much believing most everything the left said about W! Well, somewhat!

A Trump presidency scares me. A Hillary presidency terrifies me, nauseates me, and disgusts me. So I’ll vote Trump. I also have voted for Romney & McCain, for the same reason.

Dana Perino is scared too as evidenced on The Five. They can’t let go of old/stale ideas of former administrations.

Trump will reverse much of what King Obama and his communists Administration has done to America. So much to be reversed that it will take many years to correct. One term will not do it.

Another problem is so many States are communists liberal controlled that will resist what Trump will do. Such as restoring the coal fired electrical systems that it will take a Federal law forcing the States. This will be a hard sell. This will include the removal of wind turbines and solar plants.

Trump for President.

That’s funny, Andy. YOUR boss and his successor are the ones who scare me, not Trump. I expect some pain as Trump’s guys go through and make everyone justify their existence but my organization will survive that. I look forward to seeing heads roll.

My suggestion to Andy Card - WRITE THE NAME ‘JEB BUSH’ ON YOUR BALLOT.

Are you sure he can spell that?

Trump scares the Bush’s but they are “brothers” with a rapist. The Bush’s just need to go away.

Reagan made a mistake when he picked GHWB

What scares me is the decline of The United States since the end of Reagan’s term, which included two Bushes and a Clintoon as President, not to mention the worst President ever, Obama.

I’ve witnessed some really bad stuff thanks to our liberal government over the past 25 years.

Andy may want to spend a little more time thinking about what a Clinton presidency is going to do to him.

The Republican party should have been afraid of The Bushes. Look at all the horrible things that happened under W’s presidency - 9/11, Iraq War and a crushing financial collapse.
