I’d like to believe that Nixon would actually back Trump. In his own day, he was quite anti-establishment. Of course, once in control he enjoyed the power of being “The Man,” but he was (like Trump) not much liked for the things he said and did. I remember how the press absolutely had a meltdown with the Christmas 1972 B-52 bombings of Hanoi and Haiphong Harbor - that was him being Trump-like, telling the military to totally mess up the Vietnamese to force them to the bargaining table - no PC crap, just bomb them to the Stone Age. Ditto in ‘73 with his gigantic airlift of military equipment to Israel, and his worldwide alert to stop Brezhnev from sending 7 airborne divisions to Syria - the press and media did NOT like that one bit.

Yes, and Nixon didn’t fit in the standard role as VP under Ike. Very active diplomat!
