What conservatives in congress and what conservative president would you be speaking about ? As far as winning an election without independent voters well that remains to be seen but keep in mind Romney won the Independent vote in 2012. But many feel the base did not turn out as he had a lower vote total than Mc Cain. Apparently many are saying the party is now a populist party and the republican party is dead. So I must ask if this populist party has any interest in representing it’s conservative constituents through out this great nation. If they want their votes they had better be very clear on what this party intends to do to earn those votes.
Wall, enforcement, trade protectionism. All traditional core conservative values and goals.

Very few conservatives have been electable. And many who run on a conservative platform change very quickly once elected to office.
Quite frankly, this country has moved so far left I doubt that a “true conservative” in the traditional sense could get elected president. Some unrelated event, the sudden demise or scandal for the democrat would have to occur. The conservative would win by default, that’s the only way he’d overcome the constant drum of the MSM.
I’m not sure Romney did get a large Indie vote. He did in New Hampshire, but not in the states where it counts for big EV, like Florida or Ohio.
What specifically is a candidate supposed to offer conservatives?? And pie in the sky ideological talking points are completely discounted. Name five things a conservative president should be able to accomplish in a four year term.
Here’s a start:
1. Trump will pick from a list of pre-screened conservative judges for the SCOTUS appointments. (Sessions on the team of screeners)
2. Trump promised to back up and preserve the 2nd Amendment. He & his fam are CWP holders and the sons love hunting. He spoke at the Shot Show in Vegas with favorable reviews. No plans for gun-grabbing. None.
