I suspect he ran out of money and donations had dried up.

I think the people paying his way probably cut him off. I think that is why Cruz quit too.

The siphoning of votes thing is a misconception. With Kasich out, Trump probably would have won New York and the other states with an even more massive number. More Kasich voters would have moved to Trump than Cruz.

We’ll have to ask John when he’s done eating.

I have to respectfully disagree. While Cruz would certainly collude with another candidate, it's the opposite of what Trump does. Trump just wanted to win by doing his thing and getting people to vote for him, not by sneaky, back-room deals or delegate stealing.

If anything Kasich might run against as independent against Trump and Biden.

I don’t think it was like that at all. I think he stayed in because he believed that between himself and Cruz he could hold Trump down to less than 1237 delegates. Once the convention was going to be contested, he believed that neither Trump nor Cruz would get the nomination, and that he could be the last well-liked establishment man standing.

Ockham’s Razor: Kasich appears to be a self-important, delusional, obnoxious, preachy dweeb because he’s a self-important, delusional, obnoxious, preachy dweeb.

His dad was a mailman, btw.

Kasich was told by the RNC brass to quit.

My theory on Kasich: He’s got brain damage from choking on a sandwich.

If Trump picks one of the other sixteen, it will be l’il marco. I think Jeff Sessions is the most likely candidate, but Duncan Hunter (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duncan_D._Hunter) would be a good choice too. Reaganesque and the son of a man who actually built a wall between his district and Mexico, Hunter could put California in play.

John Kasich is one of the worst possible choices among people who claim to be republican. I hope Donald has better people helping him choose.

Since Trump has consistently received over 50% of the vote in every state since Wisconsin, I don’t see how Kasich staying in would have helped Trump/harmed Cruz.

It would be much more likely that Kasich had an agreement with the GOP-E to ,along with Cruz, limit how mnay delegates Trump could get.

The hope would be to ensure Trump did not get 1237 delegates prior to the convention.

Any other theory ascribes far too much intelligence and principle to the Son of Mailman.

He is an insider who is far more liberal than Trump, and who should be running in the Dem primaries.

I knew his suspension speech would be more Kumbaya gibberish.

Can’t stand this man and glad he is out of the race.

My own slant is that Kasich was working to help Cruz stop trump. Cruz was going for a relative long-shot and Kasich was going for an even longer shot which would have required a full betrayal of Cruz at an open/contested convention. With Cruz gone, there is zero chance of any of that happening so he opted to get out.

I would hazard that if there's any talking between Kasich and Trump right now, it was started from Kasich's side and all trump has said is that "he would consider Kasich" which effectively says nothing except he hasn't thumbed his nose at him.

Will have to wait to see what Trump decides but I'm expecting someone who is "moderate" but likable along with being competent. Some are upset he isn't as "100% Conservative" as they would like, but he never portrayed himself as being what Cruz portrayed himself as - what you see is what you get. Who his Veep turns out to be is anyone's guess at this time.

All eyes on Hillary...

It’s an open secret that he was blocking Cruz out of spite, I don’t think there needed to be an agreement with Trump.
