It’s really an odd choice of backdrop for a speech like this. Back in the early 1970s, all men had a room down the basement with paneling like that where they had an old ratty couch on which they could watch football and drink beer without the wife nagging them. My father had a hideaway like that. In one corner was an exercise bike that never got used. But it provided as pretense for getting the room in the first place - it was to be an “exercise” room.
My uncle called his the boar’s nest.
The backdrop appeared to be a door that rolls, separating the room from another that exists, behind the wood paneling. Possibly a musical venue or restaurant. A banquet facility of sorts. Perhaps- a barn converted for this purpose.
