Very, very well said! Like you I didn’t doubt Bush’s sincerity, and I was certainly captivated by Cruz and initially preferred him over Trump, but the longer the race went on, the more I saw Cruz adopting globalist (non conservative) positions, the more I became disenchanted. I don’t need another “conservative” President who creates more government (Dept. of Homeland Security) or is cool with an unsecured border and lopsided trade agreements.
I remember the day I started to dislike W. “See you at the bill signing!” With that stupid smirk. So glad we rose up and fought and there never was that amnesty bill signing.

And in that you were mistaken. Dubya made any number of dismissive comments about conservatives but they didn’t get much attention. He let people assume that he was interested in conservative ideas but he wasn’t, his principle advisors were relabeled liberals, neoconservatives. Hell, he was barely interested in American issues, witness his adamant love for illegals and amnesty.
