Sounds about right
Oh, and Trump never asked God for forgiveness of his sins,
So I’m going to vote for a woman who dedicated her senior thesis to a satanist
It sounded like God was helping Donald just the same. The bible only calls for confession. The Son of God already did the asking, upon the Cross. IIRC, the interview with Donald about this, Donald mentioned the Presbyterian communion with respect to this — which points to the Cross.
This can get into a lot of technicalities and questions such as why does the Lord’s Prayer mention “forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us” which is referring to forgiveness on a daily scale, i.e. we might become all judgmental one day and see a lot of judgments coming at us as a result, but the next day we might get our attitude right and then we find God treating us more kindly.
Most Christians will directly ask God for forgiveness anyhow, if only because of the Lord’s Prayer and because of conscience, but the technicalities don’t necessarily require it. We’d be doing nothing but mea culpas all day if we were brutally honest about ourselves. This is why Jesus already asked the forgiveness on our behalf. We couldn’t possibly remember to do it every single time it was needed.
