We still spray for mosquitoes in Florida at least. My county has a web site that gives a schedule of spraying areas. They use mosquito traps placed all over the county to determine when and where they need to spray. They drive down the street with a very loud machine in the back of a truck that disperses a fine spray of permethrin, or they use airplanes spraying naled and anvil. To kill larva, they use methoprene and spinosad.

Permethrin is great; I use it.

Supposedly it kills cats, though. I was warned to keep it far away from their food.

They must be using some kind of powerful mosquito killer in my area. We have had flooding all winter, I live on the bank of a large creek which is more of a small river and there is all kind of standing water around here but other than seeing a few mosquitos some weeks back I have not been bothered. I was working outside today and was not even buzzed once. I expected to be using everything available to keep them away by this time of year.
