At minimum wage or close to it, working 50-60 hours a week won’t feed a family without subsidies. That’s barely enough to keep one person alive at subsistence level.

Hmmm... OK. Then the man should -- assuming he's able-bodied -- should do his best to increase his skill level so he can move up the ladder to a higher-paying job.

If he really is working hard, and still needs a little help feeding his family, I can respect that much more than paying for the millions of lay-abouts and illegals who collect our tax dollars while not even attempting get out of bed to look for a job.
