I’d say most FRiends liked Cruz at the very beginning until he proved himself to be inept and unlikable.
I do think Cruz ran a good campaign.
2 Things did him in.
1. His infrastructure/organization was his strong suit, and it kept him in the race, but he waited about a month too long to begin attacking Trump. It’s like a basketball coach in a game where the other team is on a roll. You call a time out and made adjustments to kill their momentum. Cruz allowed that Trump momentum to continue.
2. He could have gotten away with misrepresentations here and there, but he was almost a continual misinformation/misrepresentation machine. It became annoying to listen to him speak.
Exactly!
Ted would be long out of race if Trump had not entered and “knocked off” the 14-15 other candidates.
Ted did not attack Trump so he was able to stay in race.
Exactly, ironically making Cruz an establishment politician.
He’s a very smart man. He learned exactly ‘how’ the establishment works and what it entails working within it.
Unfortunately, ‘learning’ and ‘defeating’ are two different things. Instead of working to destroy it, he opted to ‘work’ with it to use to his own ends.
“While Trump may have saved us from Bush-Clinton, the book is unwritten as to whether he will save us from the Clinton portion of that equation!”

Stunning turnaround in Trump vs. Hillary matchup

For months, Ohio Gov. John Kasich has been arguing that he should be the Republican nominee for president because polls show he would defeat Democrat Hillary Clinton in the general election while front-runner Donald Trump would lose.
Sen. Ted Cruz has made similar arguments, contending that to nominate Trump is to vote for Clinton.
They may want to develop a new argument.
A new Rasmussen poll shows Trump in the lead in a face-off with Clinton.
While that’s the poll today, the only poll that counts is in November where actual ballots are cast. In the republican camp, reality is pointing more and more at Trump and as that happens more and more will coalesce around him. That same reality hasn’t set in on the dem side. But when it does, the same will happen. So in reality, we really don’t know whether Trump will save us from the Clinton part of the Bush-Clinton equation.
Keep on wishing for a Trump defeat!
What foolishness there is in that statement, as I wrote nor implied any such thing. Trump may prevail in November. He may not. But just having his name on the ballot doesn’t assure a victory. So the poll that actually counts will be in November with ballots cast.
The only reason Cruz is even where he is, is because of the never Trump movement.
Like I said, in my (not always so) humble opinion.
Entirely 100% incorrect. We will not regret our vote. If Trump turns his back on us, we will be made completely aware the ballot box no longer works, and we will turn to the next.
Call me optimistic, though. I don't believe it will come to that. I believe, come 2024, "Conservatives" will be celebrating the administration of one of the greats.
LMBO !
Don't imply it's the "GOP machine" that's Ted's problem, he couldn't even outmaneuver that boat anchor Beck to a role that didn't undermine his campaign which proves Ted doesn't have any common sense or a feel for what anyone but his own inner circle care about nor does he give a damn what anyone outside his little circle thinks or feels other than how it can be quantified and merged into campaign jargon.
Ted figured his crack team of data mining psychologists could get over on the public and hide his total disdain for average folks not from the same Harvard Ivory Tower mindset he's from. Sooner or later that was going to become apparent when Ted couldn't even put two sentences together without repeating his anti-Trump or anti-Whoever meme of the day.
That's not natural or normal, it's an indication that someone believes they can manipulate the listener rather than make a connection with the listener. Ted isn't now nor has he ever been what he tries to present himself as or he'd have been sharp enough, even if he was only of average intellect, to realize his best bet was to go for being Trump's running mate and thereafter the automatic nominee in four or eight years. He's dedicated to being president before he's fifty is the only reason for him not to do that.
Whether that's due to his own twisted egotism and narcissism or due to his believing God wants him to do it is a question for folks to decide for themselves but it's one of the two. Given the current Narcissist in Chief having never completed a term in the Senate prior to running I'd bet on it being Ted wanting to be as "stellar" as Barry.
“Entirely 100% incorrect. We will not regret our vote.”
Said with an air of absolute certitude.
“If Trump turns his back on us . . .”
Well, there goes the certitude.
Convenience for your argument, of course, dictates you leave out the last line, so I'll include it here, again:
Call me optimistic, though. I don't believe it will come to that. I believe, come 2024, "Conservatives" will be celebrating the administration of one of the greats.
And that, my FRiend, you can take to the bank.
“Optimistic.” “I don't believe. . .” “I believe. . .”
You have hope and aspirations, not certitude. Nothing wrong with that, I guess.
Voters for Ford, Carter, Clinton, Obama, and, yes, the Bushes had hopes and aspirations.
