Ron Hartwig, vice president of communications for the J. Paul Getty Trust, issued a statement Monday in response to the lawsuit.
"The Getty is very proud of the highly successful Multicultural Undergraduate Internship program launched by the Getty Foundation in 1993 in order to increase the diversity of professional staff in museums and visual arts organizations in (Los Angeles) County,'' the statement reads. "Over the past 23 years Getty grants have supported over 3,000 internships at 152 organizations throughout the county. We review and revise all of our grant categories from time to time and over the years have made a number of policy and procedural changes to the internship program.''
Due to inquiries from potential applicants as well as internal and external discussions, several months ago the Getty modified the eligibility criteria for 2016 to state that applicants must be members of an underrepresented group, including but not limited to, those of black, Asian, Latino, Native-American or Pacific-Islander descent, according to the statement.

This is a private foundation giving away money/’jobs’ to whoever they want. This is not discrimination, it is selection: private groups should be allowed to associate as they please (think Augusta National Golf Club memberships) and spend money as they please.
This is not a Government thing. If you believe that bakeries should be allowed to refuse a sale to somebody based on religious preference, then the Getty Foundation should be allowed to give money based on their liberal preferences.
Sorry for the woman, but that’s life.
In LA being white is “under-represented” and a “minority”.
(To clarify - if there is actual employment involved, then that changes things due to EEOE regs... but somebody smarter than me will have to determine whether an ‘internship’ means a ‘job’.)
Pretty much the same around where we live.
Even more so in the government offices.
Going to the stores much of the time is something like being in Little Haiti or some Mexican border town.
And now the muslims are starting to show up in noticeable greater numbers.
We have just given up on many of our old favorite dining places because we are vastly outnumbered and some of the staff doesn't hide their negative attitudes toward whites very well.
Should they be given 501(c)(3) status and be sued like the baker?
Shut up, you’re white and privileged. sarc/
Tell them you are Black Irish.
I don’t agree with either lawsuit. Not keen on any 503(c) organization, really, bona fide churches notwithstanding.
The old Bell System is the only company I know that had affirmative action for alcoholics. If you drank like a fish, you got promoted and kept your job pretty much no matter what.
Yes. Successful are being denied what is rightfully theirs in favor of people who don’t meet the minimum standards. All because the left truly believes in “white privilege.”
Of course she was denied...because of her “white privilege”! (Sarc)
The government is forcing Christian businesses to toe the line. It should apply equally here.
Maybe on my next job, I’m going to check “African-American”. My ancestry is African, and I have entire libraries of scientific evidence to support this.
I can see how you earned your user name.
Government Jobs are wayyyyyy over represented by black females. Probably 40% or more.
Izzat Sideshow Bob?
If a man can identify as a woman, why not a white as African American?
