Oh my Confident 10 years ago my identity was stolen, it was a mess someone illegal was using my SSN!!! my life was a mess for 2 years they filed false tax returns with huge refunds involved I had to hire attorneys to handle the mess!!! Then the holiday season a couple of years ago CC hacked at Target!!!
Last year his CC was hacked at Target as well! We live in Oregon and someone in New York used it in Target!
I attended an academic conference this past November, one two hour seminar was on identity theft. Twenty years ago, one of the woman professors opened a joint checking account with her daughter. The account was closed fifteen years ago. About two years ago information from the account was hacked and the professor spent countless hours and a few thousand dollars on legal fees to straighten everything out.
The solution: constant vigilance! Check all bank balances and credit card balances every few days.
