CARACAS, VenezuelaThe largest private Venezuelan company and producer of 80% of the beer consumed here began to shut down its last beer plant on Friday, the latest deprivation in a country crippled by shortages.
After Empresas Polar SA closed its three other beer plants over the past several days, the shutting of the San Joaquin plant, near Valencia, will leave just a weeks supply of beer, the company said. Like many other firms here, Polar blames the government, which hasnt allocated the dollars the company needs to pay for imported raw materials such as malted barley.
President Nicolás Maduros government controls access to dollars, doling them out via a stringent currency exchange in which many companies find it hard to pay suppliers abroad.

They’re rapidly approaching the stage of scapegoating, then comes the persecution and the regional war. As much as I dislike the regime there, the best thing that can happen short term is for the price of oil to rise enough that they’re no longer desperate. Maybe the people will have had enough of a scare thrown into them that they’ll throw out that government and put in something more sustainable.

Civil unrest in 3, 2...
Tomorrow is May Day, a National Holiday in Venezuela and a Sunday. I predict that if there is a beer revolution there, tomorrow is the day it will happen. Too many things are now coming to a head... Power blackouts, little food, no toilet paper, no beer, no beer, and, no beer. Tomorrow could be Beer (lack of) Revolution Day in Venezuela.
Lets deport all the illegal immigrants here in America to there.
Free Beer Tomorrow.
Free Toilet Paper Tomorrow...

ship them cases of Pabst immediately! It is the humanitarian thing to do!
(Hey, it would be good enough for a Bernie supporter.)
They drink beer because the water is bad. No beer and they will have to start drinking water. This problem coupled with the lack of toilet paper is going to be a BIG problem.
Hey Fred can I borrow your T shirt?
Capitalism would fill that void pronto.
Beer now? That’s it. The end is near.

Venezuela needed a Pinochet to put an end to the commie-Chavez catastrophe.
