With the Republican presidential nomination within his grasp, Donald Trump is courting an unlikely group of voters: Bernie Sanders supporters. The GOP front-runner has ratcheted up his rhetoric against presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in recent weeks, calling her a "crooked" politician who is unqualified to be president. But when it comes to her challenger, Bernie Sanders, Trump has taken a notably softer tone, praising the Vermont senator's rhetoric and encouraging him to launch a third-party bid.
"I think Bernie Sanders should run as an independent. I think he'd do great," Trump said at a victory rally in New York City Tuesday night, after sweeping five GOP contests in the Northeast. The next morning, Trump said on MSNBC: "Bernie Sanders has a message that's interesting. I'm going to be taking a lot of the things Bernie said and using them." Trump's advisers say these comments are a preview of more explicit overtures the campaign is ready to make to Sanders' supporters once the populist liberal exits the 2016 rac

Bernie fans were above anything else anti-Hillary. The courting of these children will only serve the ultimate goal of upsetting and upending those that call DC home.
Bernie Sanders supporters are open to vote Trump over Hillary. This article is designed to squash that.
Sun Tzu, The Art of War
The highest form of generalship is to attack the enemy’s strategy. The next highest is to attack the enemy’s alliances.
Trump is operating at a level that we haven’t seen in GOP Presidential politics in decades.
Why not? It's not like they'd be voting for a conservative or something.
drawing pet, you so do not get it.
Agreed.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend?.
I know democrats who will stay home if Hillary’s the nominee... Honest people don’t like her.
Oh, not nearly as many as you would think. Trump and Statism go together like chocolate and peanut butter. The buy in for agressive government spending and intervention is yuuuuuge here these days.
[Why not? It’s not like they’d be voting for a conservative or something. ]
Considering the fact there is no “conservative” in this race, your point is moot.
If The Donald plays his cards right he could sweep them. All he has to do is make them feel good about themselves.
Yep. The enemy of my enemy often really is my friend.
And some Sanders supporters are true believers who with the right nudging could be brought along libertarian and/or Reagan Democrat lines.
Reagan was big on bringing people into the tent by the lure of the right ideas.
There are TREES aplenty.
“Bernie Sanders supporters are open to vote Trump over Hillary. This article is designed to squash that.”
Should we tell the author of this piece that Bernie believers can’t read?
We KNOW that because they are taking their History college classes online and they team up with Mr Google to pass their class instead of actually reading their textbooks.
You've spouted out your mouth-hole, now explain what you mean.
It’s not crazy to believe in some crossover. There are some similarities in the campaigns.
1. Both understand that the American people are fed up with the establishment on both sides.
2. Both say they want to end unfair trade agreements.
3. Both do not endorse Super Pacs.
4. Both have planks on repairing the neglected infrastructure
5. Both have planks on protecting Social Security.
6. Both belief the delegate selection process is biased or rigged to some extent.
“Do great” = siphon off votes from Hillary. Brilliant!
The best $5,000,000 Trump could spend would be funding Bernie as a 3rd party candidate.
Unfortunately, The Luci-Ted has given the term "conservative" a bad name.
