The results of the first statewide poll for Indianas upcoming primary show a small lead for party front runners Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, with a tight race on both sides of the aisle.
The WTHR/HPI Indiana Poll has Trump with a 6-point lead over his closest challenger Ted Cruz. The poll indicates a record turnout will favor Trump over the other candidates.
The results prove just how pivotal Indiana's primary race is going to be nationally.
Republican Presidential Primary Donald Trump 37% Ted Cruz 31% John Kasich 22%
When you drill down into the numbers into core Republicans, it makes this race a virtual tie between Trump and Cruz.
The Democratic primary is even closer with Clinton holding a 3-point lead over Bernie Sanders (within the margin of error, making it a virtual tie). Hillary has a commanding lead with core Democrats but Sanders is leading with independents and first-time voters.
Democratic Presidential Primary Hillary Clinton 48% Bernie Sanders 45%

That poll was posted on April 22 on the news site. A lot has happened sense then. I suspect Trump is well into the 40% range.
Here’s the poll, but it was from last Friday before the northeastern primaries. I’m in Los Angeles on business and the local FOX News affiliate here AM 1150 The Patriot was where I heard the stats during their brief news reports at the top and bottom of each hour. This poll has it at 41-33 Trump. I see now where that 44-33-13 stat I stated came from, and it was among male voters in Indiana and not the overall vote, but that’s the stat they reported on the FOX News radio snippet I heard this morning. Sorry friend. Wasn’t trying to mislead you on the numbers. I’m sure those overall percentages have changed again since last Friday when this poll was published.
That’s ok...it’s hard to keep track. I think I’ve heard Indiana has a lot of restrictions on polling thus making it hard to have a feel for it. From my sense (for what’s it’s worth) hearing that Trump was up 6-8% before the schlonging last Tuesday, it’s conceivable he’s up even more with the Bobby Knight endorsement and the kerfluffle with Kasich and Cruz, and the Carly announcement that really looks more desperate than calculated. Who chooses a VP when you’re 400 delegates behind and mathematically eliminated? Not saying I don’t understand why he did it, but c’mon man, you’ve got to be a realist, too and think about the optics. There’s a fine line between positive thinking and unhinged.
Vote Trump
Cruz has already lost. I doubt he will even be able to hang on to his job as senator after his miserable failure.
There was a time when he could have become the VP....not anymore. Maybe Beck will hire him for something light and easy.
I don’t think Ted’s calling the shots for his own campaign. Any rational person would of quit the race weeks ago and heal some riffs to set the stage for a future run for president, but not Ted Cruz He’s burning all his political bridges and there’s no way he’ll ever get another shot for the presidency the way he’s carrying on now. The pact with Kasich and naming Fiorina as his running mate when he’s 400 delegates down and mathematically eliminated makes no sense at all. That’s why I think he’s not in control of his own campaign. Indiana should put the final nail in his political coffin.
Who believes this? Cruz draws a thousand, Trump draws double digets THOUSANDS and it’s a close race? Prepared text to soften the steal. And dupe the idiots of Indiana who are functioning idiots if they don’t elect Trump by double digets margins!
Stick a fork in him, he is done!
Real conservatives do not support open borders or TPP. Cruz is a liberal wolf in sheep's clothing. 85% of true conservatives have figured this out.
This poll is old, from over a week ago.
Newer polls are showing a strong trend towards Donald Trump.
Trump will win Indiana going away, and that will be the end of the Cruz and Kasich campaigns.
Good riddance, Ted Cruz. Reality is reality.
Vote Trump
I’m pulling for Bernie Sanders to beat Hillary just to prolong her misery all the way to the Democrat Convention.
Have you been paying attention? Cruz opted to concentrate on Indiana when it became obvious the whole northeast was a total wash for him. He's dropped in the polls since then and is likely to drop even more as reality sets in among the voters.
Cruz's base of those who are excited/eager to vote for him has gotten so thin that he couldn't beat a Clinton/Sanders/Obama ticket right now.
