And by God if Trump doesn’t work out, he will at least have broken up the logjam, the embargo on the political process imposed by the bipartisans and maybe we can get some other new blood in there.
Once this idiot called a man who had developed property all over the world an “isolationist” he ended his credibility.
Well if he were here today he would be coarsened like the rest of us.
This is the sort of obvious thing that you would think "Fiscal" Conservatives would figure out.
The concept of private property and *your* money stems from Judeo-Christian morality. It is not surprising that with the decline of Christianity we see a rise in socialism, which is pretty much a form of collectivism, and which will devolve into full blown communism if allowed to continue.
Trump is killing Bush-ism.
That's a good point that I should have made clear. My point was that the left has been effective in changing our culture and society enough to the extent that any FEDERAL legislation of traditional Judeo/Christian values is met with hostility and demonization. The left has removed God from our society and convinced the people that having a secular king (government) is in their best interests.
For the most point Trump seems to advocate that it's the states obligation to legislate things that touch upon morality. But wow it seems like the feds have even removed the states from doing that.
30 years of Bush family Progressive Liberalism and Internationalism killed Reaganism. Trump is actually a turn back to the America First Nationalism of the Reagan years.
Kinda right -
A more accurate statement would be: the GOP permitted Ronald Reagan to run for president, as long as he had George Bush running as VP.
Our Idiocracy is so adle brained, eff’ed up and in a dire state of disfunction to even consider comparison of Ronald Reagan to the likes of Donald Trump.
Other than ego and fortune, Trump is cannot hold a candle to Ronald Reagan’s virtues, honesty, intellect, comminication and moral conviction.
Period.
Trump is our current least worst choice.
RE: “Reagan killed Reaganism when he picked Bush I as his VP... hate to break that to everyone, but Reagan himself ensured his revolution would be blunted the second he was out of office with that move.”
George Herbert Walker Bush killed Reaganism. The greasy, toxic, globalist ‘neocon’ putsch did away with the Reagan Revolution.
“You beat me to it. One man and one man alone killed Reaganism. His name is George H.W. Bush. I will dance and drink beer the day he releases his mortal coil.”
You will NOT be alone! I’m glad that he has lived long enough to see his “new world order” fall apart.
“I hadnt really thought about this but, if Reagan were here today, who would he endorse? Who would the eternal optimist endorse? Reagan would be a Trumpkin all the way!”
Right.
And I remember seeing “Let’s make America Great Again” Reagan ads back in the day.
The similarities outweigh the differences.
If Trump and America can pull this off, we will out-Reagan Reaganism. Reagan was a great president for his time. These times are different and call for far more drastic measures.
Totally agree. Trump's foreign policy is basically, "what's in it for us?" He said we play to win, not to be used like what has been happening. There is nothing "isolationist" about looking out for America's self interests.
Bill Galston was a Bill Clinton appointee and an arrogant SOB (personal experience).
I agree. Trump is pragmatic, not isolationist. He talks with working with leaders of other countries. Didn’t Fiorina say she wouldn’t talk to Putin?
And there are still freepers on this board thinking that Trump should appoint Cruz, and that will solve the problem... Lordy. If he did that, he'd need the SS to hire a taster.
the comments are excellent!
Very astute.
