This is the Rush who lives among and hobnobs with high level corporate executives. Palm Beach. What we are hearing is the concerns of the executive suite as filtered through Rush. People tend to absorb the values of their friends.

It’s been forty years since Rush lived among and rubbed shoulders with the blue collar crowd. And that blue collar crowd was the Kansas City Royals, not exactly Joe the factory worker.

Thank you Pelham,

I see you “get it”. I just wish Rush would hammer it more often, and I REALLY wish Trump would get his message straightened out.

It frustrates me to hear Trump talk about how he’s going to impose a tariff on businesses that are already under the gun. It’s wrong and it’s misleading.

As for this going on going back to previous administrations — I completely agree. And Obama has taken that and — like everything else he’s done with the loosely worded legislation passed by cowardly Congresses — he has had his army of lawyers and regulators stretch the language to accommodate their Marxist/globalist objectives.

At this point, it doesn’t matter if Cruz has a nickname. He’s pretty much irrelevant.

Here is the problem with the “consumer pays it” argument:

if the Carrier Air Conditioner is made as expensive to make in Mexico as it is in America, they would make it in America.

Now, you could say, “people wouldn’t buy it at that price”-—but they would if foreign air conditioners made outside the US faced a tariff offset as well.

I’m not sure it’s “government picking winners and losers,” but rather government saying, “wait, we will all start on the same playing field. If you tax our stuff x, we tax your stuff x.”

Under the gun? That is rich. UT, the parent of Carrier, made a huge profit last year.

[She is a Trump supporter]

I am aware of that and the reason I jump to her thread at noon to vent my feeling about what The Rump is vomiting about Trump.

“How about just calling them Trump supporters?”

That’s what I was hollering to Rush as well. What’s so hard about that?

Well I have no problem with Trump threatening to use a tariff or other import restrictions. You have to have a club to get someone to take you seriously.

Reagan flat out banned large Japanese bikes to save Harley Davidson. He put import restrictions on Japanese autos to give American firms breathing room. He restricted DRAM imports to protect our last maker of memory chips.

I agree that a large part of our problem is strangulation by regulation. But we cannot ignore the role of strategic targeting by our rivals, and of import roadblocks by our rivals.

Rush deals in a comic book version of trade, and not the messy business of the real world. Jobs are very important to national prosperity. Japan has understood this for decades and has consciously taken over high value added industries. China is emulating that trade model. We act like we are not even aware that this is going on.

To propose without hesitation that “Business” at times is not hostile to Americans is just naive.

“Rush is like an ex-girlfriend. You don’t want her back, but you check in every so often to see what they are up to and make yourself glad you dumped her.”

Excellent explanation. That fits me to a tee.

You’re supposed to go with Rush’s version, not with facts and stuff.

re: "He said America-firsters were neutral during WW2, and didn’t care about the Nazis."

Rush said that?

Rush's "Trump bashing" and his comments about America First suggests to me that Rush is targeting Michael Savage as much as anything else. Savage supports Trump and explained America First yesterday. Trump makes regular appearances on Savage's show.

Rush's America First comments sound like a FDR Stalinist vis-a-vis critics of FDR's policies; to wit, The Great Sedition Trial of 1944: A Personal Memoir -- anyone who did not support FDR (and the USSR) even if only before the war started was guilty of sedition -- except for the brief time Hitler and Stalin had a pact. Once Hitler attacked the USSR anyone opposing FDR's polices was a "Nazi" even if they supported the war but opposed being friends with the USSR after the war.

Before you go, let me just get it out there that Trump has mentioned regulations many times when he’s on news shows. He may not do it too much at rallies but I’ve certainly heard him talk about over regulation on all the tv channels. Rush should know that. Trump is a businessman, why wouldn’t he know that? Because he runs a hotel business he would not know that???

Excellent point miss!

Rush doesn’t just have a pro-Cruz agenda, he’s lazy too! I don’t think he does any research on his own anymore.

Trump needs to make it (regulatory bastardization) a centerpiece of his discussion of attracting and keeping American businesses here. If he’s said it, I didn’t catch it, and I watch probably 70% of his live rallies and tv interviews.

If he’s saying it, he’s not saying it enough. He needs to spell out the big picture — how it is happening, who is behind it, and why. It’s not that complicated. And American people need and deserve to hear more than “I’m gonna slap a 35% tariff on every air conditioner, every Oreo cookie, every Ford vehicle...etc”.

That’s the sloppiness about Trump that I don’t like. He needs to be more precise — tell the people PRECISELY why these companies are leaving.

And then work into that the slave labor — the illegals — and how that all plays into the problem.
