“You can hear his frustration at supporting Cruz without being able to admit it.”

He should probably drop that charade. Does he really think he is fooling anyone?

Rush has gone a little tone deaf. I think he truly believes he is much more intelligent than most of his listeners and thus, is going to GREAT lengths to show the "prowess" and "intelligence" of Ted Cruz and that Cruz is anti-establishment.

He makes the case, and I think it's a good point, that Cruz's strategy would have been very good if Trump didn't run.

and that is the crux of the matter to me - a good strategy allows for the unknown.

Further, Rush continues to harp on Cruz being anti-establishment and THAT is where I believe he's gone tone deaf. Cruz is not anti-establishment and hasn't been since he entered the game back in 2000.

Rush continues to believe that "conservative" = anti-establishment. Perhaps from an ideological perspective. But, in reality, most "conservatives" once in the political arena, support the establishment they have become part of in DC. I've seen it happen to virtually every single one. The ones who don't fall in line - leave quickly. That's not Ted Cruz. He has fallen in line and Rush desperately doesn't want that covered.
