I felt compelled to go. I took a train from Illinois. They called it the Promise-Keepers Special. We broke down somewhere along the way, and sat for six hours on the tracks. We arrived about 30 minutes late. I missed the blowing of the shofar, calling God’s people to assembly, the first time for this to happen in 3,500 years.
Of my own volition, I prostrated myself onto the mall, and said in so many words, by my body language, that I was humbling myself before the Lord, and accepting responsibility for my actions.
Question for everybody- Have any of you done such a thing? It was kind of a weird moment for me... a million men and boys bowing down to God Almighty, on the Nation’s Mall, for all to see. I actually balked for a brief moment, as I considered the commitment. I acted of my own accord.
My oh my- how far we have come as a nation, since that remarkable day in 1997.
They just can’t get all these people in. Its huge crowd. They are now shutting down highway ramp and turning back people.
Camera now showing K9 crew as people enter the gates. They must be so excited they made it in! I guess patrons are permitted to sit on that hillside at that venue?
