Laura Ingraham had it just right on Hannity last night.
She more or less said that conservatives should admit that their guy lost and get on board with Trump. Be happy with second place and beat Hillary.
Reading between the lines, I think she was saying that conservatives just didn’t have enough support to win. The populists won the day. Join together now and win the general election.
I have said before that the so-called conservative movement hasn’t moved us anywhere. It is not winning. It needs to be part of a coalition with the emerging populists to be a majority.
Rush and Levin make their living espousing conservatism like a religion. They have a lot to lose if people catch on that it’s just not as successful a movement as they make it out to be. They are our “preachers” in the church of conservatism. If we think for ourselves, or define conservatism a little differently then they do, then they attack their own parishioners. We’re STUPID for supporting a candidate that isn’t THEIR anointed one.
I was on and off again with Beck. Beck went off the rails quite awhile ago. I can’t and won’t listen to him ever again. He is mentally disturbed.
I have listened to Rush for over twenty years, I have been to a “Rush to Excellence Tour” event. I watched every TV show. I bought and read all his books (not the kids books). I have gotten “on air” on his radio show Twice!
To say that I am disappointed in him would be an understatement, but I just haven’t been able to listen to him anymore.
I was never a big fan of Levin. I have bought one or two of his books and was not impressed. I never liked how he always insults his listeners, but I was an occasional listener. He lost me over the Obama birther issue. For supposedly being Mr. constitution, he is woefully uninformed on the eligibility issue. To dismiss it out of hand and ridicule those who know more than he obviously does, about it was the last straw. He’s just an arrogant blowhard. I will NEVER listen to him again.
I think you hit on an important point here. Rush has been saying for years that "conservatism works every time it's tried." Well, it's not working this time. This must be very disturbing to him. It is a foundational premise for Rush.
